All this cycling talk and none of it bad, happy days. As for the diet find what suits you, don’t try to lose too much too soon, about 2 lbs a week is recommended. As others have said, drink plenty water, often when you feel hungry you are slightly dehydrated. You said you don’t bother with breakfast, big mistake, it’s the one meal you need to set you up for the day, whenever it starts. Mine is porridge with honey, pint of water. Don’t graze, ie don’t pick at bad items, cookies, crisps, biscuits, sugary drinks etc. Before you start write down everything you eat, and I mean everything, in a day, you might be surprised at how much you eat without realising it. Once you have the weight going down don’t forget to reward yourself now & then, the odd burger won’t make you fat. Three times a day with no exercise will.
As for exercise do what makes you get a sweat on & raises the heart rate for about 20-30 mins to start, yes that if you want. Just don’t go mad to start, you will be in pain next day and won’t want to carry on. Losing weight & keeping it off does not require diet, it requires a lifestyle change. Good Luck & keep us posted.

You’re not “weight challenged” or “big boned”, you’re fat [zb]s. You admit it ffs.
Another useful tool when losing weight and getting fit is myfitnesspal.com/ and there are My Fitness Pal apps for your phone. You use it to log your calories in via food and calories out via exercise and there is a social networking side to it as well where you can get the support and encouragement of others in the same boat… Can be useful in keeping you accountable and I know quite a few people who have had great success using it. Just be aware the calorie burns from exercise are estimations so don’t treat them as gospel.
Fat ■■■■■■■■ will still fit in big mouths.

‘…Aldi … and 4 slices of bread …’
Dunno if Aldi do it but Lidl do some excellent black-ish German style rye bread which, as a source of complex carb’s is more healthy than overly processed, invariably white-type bread.
Makes rubbish butties though - but I’ll chew it with, eg, a tomato & advocado salad carry-on and let a balsamic dressing provide dipping lubrication in-lieu of butter: Best done when stopped, eh…
It’s high fibre and if taken without excess fats, is apparently less likely to stimulate bad cholesterol production

That’s why I put the smiley face after which you sir have purposely omitted
I actually had a MRI scan a few years ago and was informed that my bones were 17.34% bigger than they should be
Being fat doesn’t help either
I find this a very interesting thread, I’ve struggled with weight for years and until I lost my lovely old dog a couple of years ago I’ve not done a lot about it. However, when he went I found myself simply sitting on the sofa watching TV until I decided to get my bike out of the shed one Sunday morning and go for a ride. I measured the rides I was doing in the car to make sure I knew several routes to keep a record & began adding to my rides a little at a time slowly building up to what is now a variety of routes close to home which can total up to 26 miles for the furthest one I do. I now record them on an iphone app called Mapmyride & in the last 169Hrs 39 mins 46 seconds of recorded rides I’ve done 2,100.06 miles which I’m pretty chuffed with.
However, I seem to have hit a wall with my weight loss and I’m going to try and find one of these slimming world groups around here to combine tat with my cycling. I’ve sent Wheel nut a PM to ask about that. I also have a small gym in my shed which includes a multigym, treadmill & the best thnig I find is a Tacx Booster trainer for my bike. tacx.com & select trainers then the Booster model. It gives me my very own spinning sesion in the privacy of my shed & any time I want to use it. I find this great to have excericise when it’s raining or too windy to go out on the bike. I just need to add some sort of help with the weight loss to sort my sitution out and I hope to have this sorted now I’ve read what Slimming world has done for wheel nut & what exercise has done for Coffeeholic.
Brilliant thread, let’s hope it keeps being updated and will encourage more of us to get fitter and above all healthier.

I suspect Aldi will do Rye Breads but I can tell you Lidl certainly do it. Our local one has an in store bakery & I’ve seen Rye breads there on the shelf. I wasn’t aware it was better for you than other breads though.

Forget Rye, Granary or Brown bread.
Wholemeal or nothing and leave the advocados alone Keith
