Of course it was the ‘right’ thing to do as far is the law is concerned but my point being the’ 'flip flop wearing numpty’’ hasnt harmed anyone, why even bother to get upset over it…?

Edit
Smokinbarrels- quote missed out for some reason…

Another who’s missed the point, fair enough he shouldnt have done it as far as the law is concerned but if he got away with personally it wouldnt have bothered me in the slightest and if he was actually caught its not something id get satisfaction out of seeing either.
The problem with the UK it seems is that H&S is ingrained and now brainwashed into drivers critisising others for every tiny mistake they make.
AndrewG:
Er…i think youve got the wrong end of the stick, yes the guy was in the wrong and was fined for it, thats all fair enough, you break the law pay the price ect but i personally dont get any satisfaction seeing him pulled for it, it doesnt make me happy in other words but some seem to gloat and thats what i dont like…
Im the same with speeding (not past schools ect before i get jumped on) but out on the open road theres no harm done at 100kph as im of the opinion speed doesnt kill but anyone gets caught for it me included has to pay the price as the law stae otherwise but again i get no satisfaction seeing someone hauled over the coals for it…
I don’t think I was gloating and I don’t get a kick out of fellow drivers getting done. The potential for an accident there was very high. He should of just went a few more miles down the road and took the next junction. He wouldn’t even needed to turn around as you can access the Eurotunnel from the said next junction. It’s drivers like that who gives all other truck drivers a bad name.

How do these EU firms that pay their drivers so little - afford to pay these fines on behalf of the driver?
I do hope the foreign driver isn’t expected to pay this out of their own pocket…
If this had been a Brit driver though - doing something that daft when they could have turned around at the next off slip and roundabout… I say he had it coming!
At least a foreign driver could say “Me satnab no speke this street”.
I followed some ■■■ going through the dartford tunnel last night (around 01:30hrs) with a high rubbish hopper on back, setting off the “Overheight” signs…
I pull up, in case he hits the sign. In any case, the lights go red and stop the traffic.
Guy keeps going though… Misses the flaps by about an inch… The red 'x’s come on above both lanes, but still he presses on…
Goes into the tunnel fine, and he just keeps to the center of the road.
I reckon he knows his height as 15’8" and won’t be fobbed off by a 15’9" “detector” telling him “Overheight, divert”…
I’ll suggest that one was being driven “Like a brudder” rather than “like a boss” then.
Forget the fine, if any of my drivers got caught doing that kind of maneuver they would be up the road!!!

You’re kidding me right?..
It was the Channel Tunnel slip road!
You’re headed back to Europe and on the M20 going towards Ashford/Dover/Channel Tunnel.
How the ■■■■ could you miss that?

Euro driver reverses down slip road…and gets caught doing it, fined on the spot.
The guys had to pay the price for his misdemeanor, done and dusted but ill never understand any fellow driver actually getting satisfaction seeing another driver being pulled for it. No one was hurt, no kittens squashed in the process…
+1…id have to agree with that…no doubt a Taliban that kakked himself passing the slip…if it was abroad, then theres a bit more leeway for the flambouyant reversing,or turning, but obviously not in ott h&s England, hence the inevitable crucifixion…poor guy.
DD sums it up well, the other parts of Europe it generally gets overlooked but in Hi Viz, boots, hard hat H&S obsessed England things get looked at in a more stern light and someone doing this gets lambasted for it…
Seriously wouldn’t get fined in Europe?
If he had done it Germany would get fined, because it’s Germany and rules are to be obeyed.
He would have been fined in France, because it’s France and he’s not French.
Would have been fined in Spain and got another big fine because they didn’t like the picture on his driving licence.
And he would have been fined in Italy and got another big fine for crimes against style for wearing shorts and flip flops.
Right that’s quite enough xenophobic stereotyping from me, or you’ll all start protesting and telling the BBC how offended you are on behalf of the rest of Europe.

Mate…im not saying he wouldnt have got fined elsewhere in Europe and im not saying he was right doing what he did. The only thing (and it really is just this) is that i personally dont get upset re this sort of thing and certainly dont like to see anyone pulled and fined for it and really dont understand why others get any satisfaction out of seeing someone get pulled. I see all sorts of maniacal driving day in day out and im sure you and very many others do too, i take the view though if you can get away with something then so be it but then again if you get caught on your head be it…
Ill quite openly say my limiter is at 100kph just like many thousands of other trucks are and its never ever caused me grief…but if or when it all goes ■■■■ up its my problem and mine alone, down to me entirely to take the hit…
Saw this yesterday Andrew, surely best not to even mention this fuel thing on here though? Agree with what you’re saying regarding this post UK totally OTT with ■■■■■■■■ and snitchers IMO.

Hang on the driver commits the offence, and you expect his company to foot the bill??
Discoman. Yes some/many operators do pay fines. They want to keep the vehicle moving. I imagine a driver who works hard will be ok but one who gets too many fines could be a one tripper only? Speaking to a friendly Gendarme while waiting at a check he said that know about this and alter the amounts according to who is actually paying.

Shame they didn’t catch the flip flop wearing numpty who did the same thing on the m42 last week at jct 9
nutters
Why is it a shame exactly? Did he hurt anyone? Illegal it may be and if caught no doubt a big fine to pay and entirely his fault but nothing to get upset over because there was no BiB around surely
If UK only drivers saw the ‘alternative’ way of driving in Europe they wouldnt get so upset ref seeing the odd misdemeanor now and then.
I very often see UK reg trucks in Spain/France do odd things but i just ignore it and get on with the day…

The right thing for him to do was to carry on up the motorway for 6/7 miles and turn round Andy co e back down why oh why do a stupid risky thing like that …
Of just take the next junction 3/4 of a mile and left at the roundabout and that will have taken him to a slip rd half way down the service rd .like the cretins use to jump the que when it’s busy instead of reversing his sat nav will have picked it up
Should be £1000 fine for using the phone as well.

The Spanish police also do the same, find out who is paying, a cc payment by the company they can do little about but cash payments by the driver? Well…you can guess where they go… top tip, always plead poverty, never let them know how much cash you have on you as the ‘fine’ will vary accordingly…
When I was running thru Poland in the early 90’s I kept a 10 DM note in my driving license, another in my passport and the rest hidden around the cab, if the Politzie weren’t happy with that then you knew you were inthe ■■■■■ …
