"Wiltshire Police are appealing for witnesses following an assault on a lorry driver at West Grafton near Marlborough.
The incident took place shortly after 9am (Wednesday 3rd April 2013) in the layby on the A338 at West Grafton close to the Roadside Cafe.
Shortly after the male victim parked his lorry he was approached by two men and one of them started to attack the victim using a pick axe handle.
The two men fled the scene in a blue Suzuki 4X4, leaving the victim with a suspected broken arm.
The first suspect is described as being a white male, in his 50s, short in height with a stocky build, bald head and a tattoo on his neck. He was wearing blue jeans and a grey hooded top.
The second suspect is described as a white male, approximately 6ft 2ins, in his mid-20s, with short brown hair and wearing a black jumper and jeans.
Anyone in this area between 8.30am and 9.30am this morning is asked to contact Wiltshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.LINK: Gazette and Herald
Seems strange, the cafe would of been open and probably a few other vehicles at that time would be there, i wonder what triggered it, but nice people dont travel with pick axe handle’s.

All law abiding citizens should be able to defend themselfs with a firearm but the fact that here in the UK you cant is in my opinion a massive breach of basic human rights. Its madness that even keeping a loaded shotgun under the bed for home defence is against the law, what the hell are you sposed to do if someone breaks into your house, fend them off with colourful langauge?!
heard all of Saamons arguments before.
if his arguments held water there would be no gun crime in America.
There is,lots.

I thought that a review of acceptable defence had taken place, and an ‘if youve got it use it’ action will be allowed.
Wot frikin planet you on mate ? too many nutters around now without guns , they would beat some pensioner up for ten bob…guns aint the answer…you watchin too many John Wayne films buddy.

Mainly in states where they have strict gun control. Did you know that the UK has a far higher violent crime rate than the US?

Sorry whos that? Not really a film person.
Saaamon:

Perhaps that is because US violent crime normally becomes a gun crime and is recorded as such.
No doubt the trucker would have been shot rather than beaten up with a pick axe handle if we lived a gun society like the US.
The violent crime rate in the US, according to FBI figures do not include statistics for common assault etc, the lowest classification that is counted is aggravated assault.
Whereas UK figures include all reported assaults. To compare the two you would need to strip out UK figures down to the same parameters used in the US, or include all reported violence in the US
The same bit of Googling came up with the fact there are 4 times more murders per 100,000 of population in the states compared to the UK.(4.8 per 100,000 compared to 1.2).
These “facts” are from Wikipedia so I don’t suggest that they are indisputable.

It’s not the Wild West, Saaamon; it’s Wiltshire.
Very true, aslo if he was allowed to legally carry a firearm then perhaps his assailants would have also been armed and it would have been far more serious than a broken arm.
An armed society is a polite society.
Have you ever been to america
Saw an article in the papers soon after the school shooting in Connecticut and its been reckoned that since the mid sixties over ONE MILLION Americans have died of gunshot wounds - this obviously excludes any military stuff - purely domestic crimes.
Sorry Saaamon but on this one I don’t think you’ve got both oars in the water.
America is a very dangerous country - and yes I’ve been there more than once. And it’s very dangerous giving all sundry cranks and nutters military hardware. 2nd amendment was for the wild west 150 - 200 years ago and has no place in a modern society - as far as I know no other Ist world country has such rules in their constitution and many wise and sensible people in the US want it abolished but the rednecks just won’t give it up.
Did you know that the country with the highest per capita number of gun owners is Switzerland? Go figure.
Isn’t it Switzerland where they have conscription to the armed forces and when you leave you keep your side arm?

Yes, by criminals, they tend to ignore the law you see.
Guess what, no guns allowed here in the uk. Guess what, we still get gun crime.
Sad to say but I agree with saaamon once again.
Don’t believe too much of what the media tells you, do your own research if it bothers you that much.

I suppose it depends on where you get your information and what your personal views are. We can regurgitate wiki figures all day and make them fit our own views.
My understanding of their constitution was to enshrine the ability to live as a free man/woman into law. The amendments obviously fine tuned this. The 2nd ammendment, iirc was to allow EVERYONE the right to keep and bear arms in order to act as the last line of defence against tyrannical government. FA to do with Duck hunting by rednecks.
At present the 2nd ammendment is under attack by Obama and his puppet masters. Why?
Cos they’ll have a hard time filling the FEMA camps with it still intact.
So we see well timed false flags like in Colorado and the slaughter at Sandy hook. As Saaamon pointed out, both soft targets, both gun free zones.
Even if you think the false flag concept is too out there for you, the official explanations of “the lone gunman” could’ve been countered if adults on the scene been “carrying”.
Bizarrely the USofA was founded in a brutal fashion and like it or not the gun was and still is an intergral part of their culture.
You see we in The UK are merely “Subjects” with little real freedom under the Royal yolk. The folk that left Europe hundreds of years ago understood this and wished to live as “Freemen”, as such they had no peer and so they were free. Common law still applies I believe? Murder is still a crime? Given the amount of firearms over there owned by “normal citizens” why aren’t their murder rates in the millions?
Because despite media demonisation it would appear most of them have no intention of slotting fellow Americans. To paraphrase: Guns don’t kill people, people do.
THO.
