Tipping in Dunfermline which will take me up to about 7 to 7 1/2 hours driving then heading south and looking for overnight parking, food, shower etc. Lockerbie would usually be my goal, but ideally somewhere en route between Dunfermline and there would be good?
M74 truck stop at j9 south bound, cheap a cheerful
Red Moss pub, come off at Happendon serv, go past serv on rhs. End of road r/about under m. way. R/about left on B.road (what was old A74) about a mile or so on right.
Tell him how much you want your parking ticket for, end up with a free (and very good) meal…and shower.
Cameras on there but open your trailer doors all the same.
Come out in morning turn right and it brings you out at Abington serv, for bog and Maccy Ds latte …you’re welcome
Btw ring late on in day to make sure he is open on Sun night…pretty sure he is.01864 504220

Are there plenty of spaces? Depending on how long it takes them to tip me I might be arriving 1930-2000

Sounds good, it’s for Monday not today. As with the other suggestion does this place fill up early?

If you’re going M74/M8 then Cairn Lodge and Hamilton (M74) are good, not been into Hartside (M8) recently.

Good as in what?
Only ‘good’ thing about Harthill is that it is free (afaik)

Having just put the route into my Sat Nav it’s suggesting A1, A697, A68, A720, M8, M9, Forth Bridge as the fastest route which suits me as I like a bit of variety to the usual A1, A66, M6/A74 I usually go on to get to my usual destinations. And I will be going by Newcastle outside of peak times so can’t see there being any delay that way. This however means that it might be a layby job unless they find me a backload for Tuesday which is highly likely. Can’t see there being much in it going A74 mind, in fact I’m surprised it’s not quicker.
How much running time have you to come back when tipped or tipped/loaded?
(Just to find a better alternative to a ■■■■ lay by.)

Ah right, missed the ‘overnight’ bit

Should have 3 hours give or take if I do a 10 hour drive. Cedar Cafe is looking an option.
With 3 hours you can get to Carlise or team valley from Dunfermline.

I could but I won’t. Lockerbie is the furthest I’m going. That’ll put me at about 12 hour day.

Now that we know you are heading for Newcastle the A1 is about the only route , on top of that I`am absolutely gobsmacked as to of the routes being suggested by so called professional ■■? drivers .

I’m not heading for Newcastle. It’s six of one and half a dozen of the other whether I go A1 all the way (ish) or A1, A66, M6.

Follow the legendary god Robroy advice for Red Moss to see Eddie. When you come off for Cairn Lodge follow the A70 Ayr road and look for the truckstop signs.
Stop at Cairn Lodge, Hamilton, Bothwell or Harthill? Not a chance!
