Truck stop tradgedy

Its hard to see how this could happen, feels especially sad when the driver that lost his life seemed to be just trying to help someone out.

A tragedy for sure, but that sentence is poor no matter how you look at it.

Difficult until you know details of what actually happened here , I do see some people standing in some what looks like very un - safe places with lorry’s about , even if I’m helping I keep well out the way , always ready to get even farther away .

It’s very much like those who get out the drivers door next to a running lane on a motorway , bloody dangerous , always exit by n/s of car .

That’s alright if you’re sitting on the nearside.

if i am giving someone a lift i will always spin round if needed so they can get out on the nearside and not have to cross the road.

i cant tell you the amount of times someone is helping me reverse into somewhere and then they decide to nip behind the trailer to check the other side.

Not sure why you need to be sat in passenger seat of the car to exit through that door star down under ? just climb across , if there’s someone in that seat tell them to get out first .

That may have worked in the 60s when front bench seats were the norm.
It won’t be happening at my age, at 6’4", 120 kg, with all my cars having large consoles to hamper egress on the wrong side.
There is a mirror on the door for a reason.

Terrible tragedy.

The incident happened ‘11 January 2024’ but only sentenced.. this month?! That’s an incredible delay even by British Court standards.

Blimy Cobber! You’re a big dude so try the water-fast diet or one meal fast. And you’ll be rattling out that cab on the nearside in no time matey.
