Just put down the deposit on our new house so we’ll be moving next month.
Was wondering if there are any companies that will rent trucks to new drivers. Most need 1 year would save a lot of money on the move if I could rent a truck.
7.5t trucks are usually rented out without issue.
Try some other rental companies if you are getting trouble off 1.

Getting no replies what so ever. I’ve emailed a few. Will get the phone out but I hate phoning lol!
Salford Van Hire will! Happy days!
Don’t waste your time on email.
Hire vans go very quickly, especially coming up to the weekend.
Get on the phone, reserve/pay for it up front it if need be, but be sure of the terms and condition of hiring, and insurance excesses.
Do a detailed walk round before driving off in one, and point out every bit of damage, and before signing, ensure the diagram on the paperwork tallies with the vehicle.
Often, the damage will be recorded on the rental sheet prior to handover, but not always.

Will do this. Thanks.
Just checking other more local ones, if not I’ll get it book with Salford Van Hire.
Make it very clear that you are a private individual without an Operators Licence wishing to hire for personal use. Generally, the hirer wont release larger trucks without sight of the O licence. I suggest you do this to avoid disappointment when you go to collect it.

That was my first thought too. Also hirers didn’t used to cover insurance on vehicles over 7.5t due to the fact that they were almost never rented to the general public.

It actually comes under the DIY Removal section on Salford Van Hire but I’ll check.
It’s the one at the bottom 7.5 tonne with tail lift. Got a 4 bed detached and 2 living rooms in it so a fair bit to move.
Removal companies want £300+ so £80 on that is a massive saving.

Yes, that should be ok but make sure you have made 100% clear you’re a relatively new c/c1 licence holder and they fully understand this as they’re probably most used to grandfather rights hirers.

Still very much the case for hiring proper HGVs you’ll need o-licence and insurance. For this reason if you’re an owner driver, for instance, you don’t want to save a few quid by having the cover exclusively on your own one vehicle, you want it on any vehicle, so you can always hire at the drop of the hat without having to faff around getting temporary cover on a vehicle that doesn’t belong to you.
The hire trucks must be on MID under the hire co’s own insurance though as when we’ve had one for a day or two we’ve never got our insurers to put the vehicle reg on and have never been pulled by plod with ANPR asking about the insurance.
