Apparently there have been some problems occuring in Germany with the MAUT and the Polizei.
If you have a new style number plate such as TN 03 EDF the sytem is reading it as TNO 3 EDF which then causes you to be issued with a big fine for failing to register with Toll Collect!
The police are also issuing spot fines because the V5 does not match the plate
DVLA have said this is not a problem but I dont suppose they are going to reimburse you.
The problem is limited to the 0 or O and not a 5 registration
I have to do it all manually with Maut and cash when i go to Deutschland. (Normally every week)My motor is a Yreg so i dont have the problem you mention, but i understand exactly what you mean, but when i put my reg. (Y), then the 3 numbers, i press the space bar before i put in the last 3 letters, and everything is fine, as my reg. matches my number plate exactly,(e.g. Y123 ABC And not Y 123 ABC) the spaces on the maut are the same as my registration documents and the actual number plate. With the “new” registrations its got to be the same, AB02 CDE, as long as you type in the number zero and not the letter O, and leave the correct spacing, it should be OK.
I do have that problem when booking in at Calais , Dover, Dunkerque etc, the agent has used the number ZERO instead of the letter O, to my agent and the bod at the check in its a zero or a nought, but it all depends which button the bod at booking in presses, i know the nought in my trailer is the LETTER O, and i tell booking in so, then when they say there is nothing on the computer i tell em to try it again using the NUMBER 0, then it works.
Letter O and number 0, are the problems i get, but we get there eventually
