Truck parking prices?!

Would SNAP be for employers to sign up for or can it be used by any driver?

Anyone can use it, its just a system where the driver doesn’t need to carry cash and the company gets billed directly sometimes at a discounted rate too. Our lot insist that you use SNAP if possible, SNAP parking at Cobham costs the company £18 rather than £25 if they had to reimburse the driver. Our lot moan if we constantly use MSA parking because of the cost, plus they refuse to refund the parking if you’ve gotten a food voucher with it. Not to mention this silly system where you have to be an hour away from the yard before you’ll get your night out money. Lets say you can make to 20 minutes from the yard, don’t bother. Stay an hour and a half away, get the night out money then lose an hour and half of driving time the next day.

When i was driving i always had parking paid but only used it when needed but if the job cannot afford to pay for someone to park maybe the company should be looking at how they price the job they are doing because £120 each week is nothing.

120 quid is not nothing if you are an owner driver, and on the other side of the coin it is not if you have 10 trucks, or even a bigger fleet in excess of 100, but yeh, I agree that firms should pay for parking.

If I worked for a firm that did not pay, I would not give a ■■■■ where I parked.
In fact me being me I would park in the most theft active places just to teach the greedy bar stewards that it was false economy. :smiling_imp:

What are the costs involved in running a motorway services? Without knowing about that side of it, then you can’t know if it’s too expensive.

I’m happy to agree that it seems extortionate, but then again the average build cost of a motorway services is around £30 million. They also pay for the build of the slip roads, motorway signage and maintenance thereof. The way our motorway services are structured means that compared with abroad, services are sometimes further apart in comparison and almost certainly catering to greater numbers, which means they need to be larger, which in turn means that at quiet times, they are lighting/heating etc a larger area without the revenue. Additionally Uk services are funded entirely by the operator as opposed to being leased from a local authority.

£30 million to build a motorway devices lol what kind of drugs are you on?

Infrastructure costs, including building access roads, car parks and installing street lighting, add to the typical £25million cost of a new site and maintenance costs are high.

While I agree it is a lot of money each week if a truck and that doesn’t matter if it’s 1 or 100 that is working all week isn’t earning enough to pay for parking they have got pricing wrong or it’s time to pack the job in.

Is Cobham the one UK drivers seem to refer to as the ■■■■ bowl?

Not sure.
Dipper recently called Corley a ■■■■ bowl.
