Truck of the future - au revoir Magnum

One of the things I like about Renault is they will push the design boundarys. The Magnum even impressed car drivers when it came out, because it looked so differant and Renault having the guts to put a concept into production seems to have benifitted many of us in the fact that most manufacturers offer large cabbed trucks. So maybe this will push the boundarys again. It may be used to test the market before lauching a more conservative styled Volvo using the same drivetrain and chassis. Fingerprint entry and camera totally replacing mirrors might not be the best ideas for a production model, but better security and rear visibility would be a move in the right direction.
Wonder if they need another test driver

Cab or greenhouse? That’ll be murder in the summer. Too much glass. Looks quite nice though.

Is the roof glass or a plastic matirial more able to withstand knocks from trees etc. Also I’m sure tinting and aother coatings that block the suns rays and Air con will stop any greenhouse effects.

Here’s the Adobe PDF file with information about the new truck.

From playing the movie files on the Renault site this truck really does look the bees knees. Cameras everywhere claiming to ‘eliminate every blind spot’, the generous glazing which is adjustable in opacity to allow optimal visibility and pleasant lighting whatever the conditions and sophisticated lighting to provide a warm ambience for night time driving. Smaller steering wheel, ‘drive by wire’ - the steering column is not physically in the cab, allowing more room. Adjustable in cab lighting to make the driver feel more comfortable when resting etc etc.

I’d love to see one of these first hand.

Paul.
