Truck in a field M5 Willand

Near the Willand turn off on the M5 there’s a unit and trailer in a field all upright but smashed unit in the front. First of all when I seen it from a distance this morning thought It was one of those trailers that advertise stuff but as you get closer you can see where he’s come off the hard shoulder across the grass and through the fence into a muddy field. I’d say he’s very lucky as field and hard shoulder are almost on the level so hopefully the driver would have walked away relatively unharmed.

Anyone else seen it as it was still there this afternoon ?

Its probably for sale on Truck trader.

Most of their sales reps are field based.

Any description of truck and trailer?

Probably just aswell it was identity less!

It might be one of ours. Was told one was coming home on a wrecker, but apparently last night, it still hadn’t been recovered. I am told that it was stopped by a tree. Driver phoned his mum to collect him. Details at work are sketchy. No one seems to know where it is other than ‘It fell off the M5’
If it’s back when I go in later, I will grab pics. Although the unit may be a rental so may not come back to the yard.

I think he was going into one of those new eco services that you cant see from the road.
Two wreckers recovered it from the field last night. I presume it was empty as it has been there two nights
and they dragged it back upon to the mway.

I think it had a DHL label on the cab.

Was wondering whether it was loaded given how they just dragged it out of the field, but I’m pretty sure there was a tree where it went off the road.

That’ll account for the dent in the front of the cab then.

so what company

If it was ours, it was a rental wagon from Dawsons. The driver was Wincanton. Apparently he fell asleep, woke up when he left the road, saw the tree and leaped from the cab.
Neither trailer or unit have come back to our yard. But if they were both rental, I doubt they would.
He would of been empty, as he was heading back after a run in Devon or Cornwall.

Kays wagon off just north of Sedgemoor services (NB) too, that one ended up in a ditch…
