Truck driving more attractive to women

hutpik:
hi guys.i read this with interest.over the last 35 years i have seen a few women driving trucks in places as rare as turkey, marrocco.and u.s.s.r.however it was always quite a rare site.in the late 80s and 90s my late wife spent 12 years driving together with me everywhere.this we done for the reason that it was good for us,and good for the companies.in the last 10 years it has become easier for women to consider driving trucks due to the improved quality of vehicles and the fact that most loads are now moved with machines and not handballed any more.also curtainsiders makes life easier.i live above the arctic circle in lappland and i drive a volvo fh16,660 automatic,4axle tipper in the iron ore mine in gällivare.up here it is common to see women driving the heavy trucks and bucket loaders, caterpillars, diggers, etc.this is partly because they can earn good money but mainly because there is a shortage of people up here.in the mine alone about 30 percent of the people are women.ther are two driving schools in gällivare for trucks and heavy machines and maybe 40 percent of the students are women.all the best mike

Wheres the photos then■■?

hi people.i’ve just got home from gällivare and looked at the site.it seems some of you are interested in working in lappland.i wonder if you have any idea what it’s like here.[not being nasty or sarcastic]i work in an iron ore mine driving a 50ton tipper 1km underground transporting the ore from the seams to the crusher.i work 5days,2days off,7days then a week off[now i’m starting my free week].for this work i get about €2200 per month net.i have lived,in the past,in holland, afghanistan, and canada so i know what is involved in working and living in a foreign country.i moved up here from holland in 2007.i had spent the previous 8yrs driving a truck between holland and tromso so knew what to expect.i was 57 when i moved and the main reason for doing so was to finish my driving career somewhere quiet with less stress.i paid cash for my cottage[30k]so my expenses are less than normal people.first thing.YOU WON’T GET RICH UP HERE]so if you want to relocate go to canada or aussie.here you can have a good standard of living and a better quality of life.don’t expect disco’s and luxury things[they aint here]what you have is more natural things like snowmobiling, skiing, hunting etc.remember we have snow from october until may with temps down to min 45c[i was driving a snow plough on mayday]it is possible to find work here but you have to think seriously before you come here.you will have to learn swedish if you want to get on.people will help you but you are a guest here, they didn’t ask you to come so you have to fit in.the best thing to do is to take the time and come to lappland to see what it is like first.you can go to companies in gällivare and kiruna, show your face, lay your stall out about what you can do and what you want.you can check out houses for sale[there is a shortage of rentable accomadation]so if you want to buy you have to look at the options,it’s a big step.the job centers here are called arbetsförmedling.there is always someone who speaks english.maybe look on internet for LKAB and BOLIDEN which are the big mines here and also for info about lappland.think before you jump.you won’t necessarilybe better off.
to bowser man.how can i take pictures 1km undergound…

Just as long as she’s home on time to get my dinner on the table and my clothes ironed I’m happy
