The camcorder is entirely your choice really as is the mount but I use the Sanyo XACTI SH101 with this mount.
You will want to invest in an inverter to keep it charged while you record and definitely a bigger SD card.
The mount is the Delkin Fat Gecko and will risk you roughly about £55 but it’s a heavy duty mount and I fully trust hanging my camera from the outside of the lorry while using it, i can even swing my own weight on it sometimes.
Also,
There’s no videos with the equipment I use on my Trucking channel yet, but this video here was one I recorded using the equipment I told you about above.
Excuse the slight stretched look of the video, this happened due to an incorrect setting while uploading the vid but it gives you an idea of the sturdiness of the mount and quality of the camera.
Theres only 1 choice of camera … Gopro HD2 Hero motorsports edition
I`ve got 2, for use on the motorbike
Thanks, that looks like a mean mount I was thinking of something on the inside on the dashboard,is there a website for this kind of stuff,I have looked but no joy as yet.

I bought mine new off of eBay, looks like the price has went up slightly now though.

In regards to the GoPro HD Hero 2, this is my next purchase so I would agree with the above comment. Interested to know if it will fit on a standard mounting tripod pin.
You might ask if I’m mad in case someone hit it, but it doesn’t sit out any further than the wing mirrors.

gopro make an adaptor with the photo standard 1/4" 20tpi thread for around £7 that allows you to adapt to various photo mounts and RAM mounts http://www.amazon.co.uk/Helmet-Camera-GoPro-Cam-Tripod/dp/B006FDT354
The gopro case is water proof to 60m and the mounts are 3M, the motorsports edition comes with a suction mount, and a 32Gb SD card will give you around 4.5hrs of 1080 HD video
But you can get a skeliton case that allows you to connect a USB power supply and video out

Well said go pro all the way!!!
ATM the cheapest Gopro HD2`s are on evilbay Item number: 110806347027 at £220 + £10P&P for a bunch of guys down in brighton
for video editing I use sony Vegas movie studio HD platinum, £30 from Amazon, there is a cheaper version of the same suite at around £20, but it doesn`t have as many bells and whistles as the platinum version

Thanks for that, was just about to ask. PS that doesn’t come with a 32GB SD card does it?
Edit: nvm read your post wrong. Only thing that puts me off GoPro is the sound quality
This one is very good
no card supplied from the guys at Brighton, but they do occasionally bundle cameras with 8GB cards for an extra £6-£7
you can get suitable cards online, the last 32Gb card cost me £17 from play.
you need a class 4 SD card or higher
a taster of the video quality of a gopro
All helpful stuff so far I will have a look around later on tonight, thanks.
Go Pro HD Hero 2 all the way. In regards to the internal mic, it is a bit on the rubbish end but the camera has a mic input so get another mic and slap it in there. Its the camera they use on that show with the green machines, also used on Top Gear and many many other TV shows so if its good enough for them. The picture quality is fantastic and it handles contrast better than most other small cameras I have come accross.
