I constantly see complaints , moans , etc about all makes of modern trucks , is there no one out there who makes a genuine trouble free truck ?.
If you get an old lorry, chances are that things will be starting to wear out & need to be replaced/repaired.
If you get a new one, as a lot of us have discovered, you will be helping the manufacturer with his development programme. The mantra of most- if not all- manufacturers is, “Get it somewhere near, then wait for the operator to tell us what we’ve done wrong”.
Cynical? Me? After fifty years in the game, too bl**dy true, pal!

They can’t do that, they have to generate revenue from the parts dept & it keeps the maintenance people in a job…

True to a point , but the technology is even beyond the so called maintenance people . After the diagnostic plug in ,it’s all fit this and that ,reset the codes and away you go driver only for the original problem to re occur shortly afterwards . Very few have the ability to work through the faults and fathom a cause , far too easy to fit a brand new ecm than trace a dodgy relay

if Carlsberg made trucks, but they dont
neither did jesus and only he could perform miracles
if its mechanical and has moving parts it will wear out,
the perpetual motion machine does not exist

In a word NO
Mercs seem to blow bulbs for fun and as far as I know every Axor in a very big fleet has lost its gears at some point, first time it happens (downhill on the M6 coming up to standing traffic) its a bit unnerving
Got a Scania G230 18 tonne rigid. 3 years old and I have driven it from new and I have not had a single problem with it whatsoever.
If you could mix and match all the best bits of various lorries in to one super lorry, what bits would they be and from which lorries?

You are not familiar with Sod’s Law I take it
Google it when you’re in Scania getting fixed after you just jinxed yourself
A Merc with someone else’s gearbox in it would be A1. My Actros has been troublefree apart from the load of garbage powershift gearbox.
Daf LF. Crank seal went at about 50k (done under warranty), other than that all it’s had is tyres and windscreens.
Having been involved with vehicles, cars then lorries since leaving school in 1956 and I havny seen a trouble free one yet, some bad some good but none entirely trouble free. Eddie.

But nothing ive ever drove goes as welll as a volvo with the added benefit of being reliable

Ladies & gentlemen, I put to you . . . my fellow drivers, that the perfect truck does not indeed exist.
Indeed, it can never exist.
For whilst we are not all moaners & whingers, it must be said, that most of us are.
If, indeed, the perfect truck were thrust upon us, we’d still find time to moan about the perfectness of it.
