STOBRATS? :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing:

Noooooo, there was a agency driver on here the other week on about how he laughs at all company drivers as he earns ££££££££££, then we find out there on Ā£87 a shift, and they can’t get them to pay that, brilliant     ,them who laugh last laugh loudest :exclamation: :exclamation: :exclamation:   :stuck_out_tongue: :sunglasses:

Trouble is, laughing at it doesn’t make it all go away.

Cons, Fiddles, Low pay, and outright lies are here to stay in the ā€œUK flexible working marketā€ that basically means a free-for-all regarding how anyone hiding behind ā€œTemp Ltdā€ can get away with murder in ā€œHands off our Crooksā€ Britain. :frowning:

It’s long past time that a large, disreputable agency went under because all the drivers have left - rather than just the decent drivers or at least those with enough brains to know when to cut their losses. :frowning:

Tesco/stobart/trg are laughing at all their drivers imho. Mrs Ovlov has just got a job full time in a tesco store stacking shelves on a fri/sat/sun night. She’s on Ā£13 ph and the drivers dragging the stuff from the dc are on Ā£12 ph. That’s why I personally wouldn’t touch said firms. I’m a proud man, but personally I would go on the rock and roll before I took a low paid driving job. People that do just compound the problem

An agency left our place to go tetco reading…he’s full time, on the cards, reckons its the best job ever! Well he would say that but…have they taken some drivers in house and some agency? Prob a little bit of everything is good I spose

The drivers that are ā€œdragging the stuff from the dcā€ are on more then Ā£13 an hour if they are working nights like mrs ovlov

Have to say that all this ā– ā– ā– ā–  annoys me…who the f do these companies think they are treating drivers like this. Somewhere on this forum, the OP was knocked for suggesting a walk out. Companies who feel they have the need to rip the P out of their employees need to be taught a lesson…

It’s all about fairness…on BOTH sides.

Maybe at reading, but at Dagenham they were offering Ā£12 an hour on a Sunday night, according to the 2 drivers I work with, who upon hearing that, duly took their redundancy from harlow and didn’t look back. For the record, same shift at harlow paid them Ā£28 an hour, hence the depot closed. They may now be paying more due to a lack of interest in the job, I can only go on what the guys told me. After all, if it was good money, they had done 25 years between them at harlow, and they chose to go tramping for coltons

Yeah them old contract lads were on great money, that’s a big change the 2 lads you know have made, supermarket work to tramping, goodluck to them, hope they enjoy it. Quite a few lads from Weybridge who took redundancy are now working at Reading with TRG, they had to wait 3 months before they could come over. A lad I was talking to went to Mckeefry when he left Weybridge, but he couldn’t hack the hours so he’s now back at tesco on agency.

I don’t do nights so I’m unsure what they earn, but I know the tesco lads are a good bit more than Ā£12, there’s night and weekend premiums to go on, so at a guess I’d say Ā£18-19 p/h

Agency liers mate don,t even go there, all agencies are crap idiots, as i,m finding out, since i lost me company, i would have a real job if i could but they don,t like takin on ex owner drivers, so looks like a career change for me,

Main word like others have said :AVIOD:

There was a few reasons a lot of harlow left

The wage drop affected their final pension.
We changed to a 10 week rotor rather than the 7 week rotor with a week off

hth, they paid me after 5weeks i say paid me huh, 54pound for 13hrs work, sick of gettin fobbd off emails and phone so wont bother but steer clear all you hard workin truckers, hey if we were office staff hr would sort it, we get treated like somethin they puked up dont work for trg fellas theres loads more that will pay you what you earn just my story on what they v done to me so i imagine thats the norm with them

Sorry but I cant believe grown men allow these young parasites to get away with it. An agency, by law, must inform you in writing of the rate, details of job and all that other ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā–  BEFORE you do the job. Any driver worth a ā– ā– ā– ā–  would not attend a job without first knowing the rate and getting that rate in writing either via email or text message. If the agency umm and argh then tell them that you will not be getting in your car until the message is received. They will then either find another mug to take on the job or text you the rate offered.

If you don’t know how to play the agencies then ask on here or any other driver related site. Some drivers don’t get treated this way because they know how to play agencies and have learned the hard way how to get them to pay. Ok, they still lie through their back teeth but they know who they can mess about and who not to try it on with.

The reason drivers are on such crap rates at the weekend are because drivers turn up for them and that is it, no other reasons whatsoever although the agency will have you believe that they are losing money on paying you £7 per hour on a Sunday and most of you will bloody well believe it. You need to start saying no as do the others and then they will have to pay more but alas that wont be happening because I know what drivers are like. All wind and ■■■■, gonna do this gonna do that but then come up with a hundred reasons why they need to do it such as mouths to feed and bills to pay, well boo hoo aint we all got those.

I never worked out how anyone can afford to commute to a sub-Ā£7ph job in the first place…

Ā£54 for a 13 hour shift with deductions for working the 6 day week and the fuel round trip each day means you’ve hardly got anything left to get yourself a burger during your legally required-to-take break each day. :frowning:

9 out of 11 agencies I’ve signed up with in the past tried it on with the ā€œIt’s Ā£13phā€ (verbally) and when I said ā€œEmail me the postcode, client name, and that rate you just saidā€ I got ā€œOh it’s cancelled nowā€ straight away. :imp:

The suggestion is therefore that most agencies are crooks. Not all. I’m working for one that’s trying real hard to play it straight, but even they’ve cancelled me on occasion. I don’t get fiddled with my pay though, only honest mistakes that get rectified straight away have occurred in the 2 years I’ve been here so far.

Why oh why can’t some of the crooked competitors go bust ffs!

I finished up on my job a few weeks back. In over 20 years of driving trucks I’ve never touched an agency in my life and always been lucky to be in work. Had no luck finding anything here in N.I. so I had a look at work back in England and had seen the ad for trg.

Glad I read this post, I emailed trg my cv, completed the online form for a position working out of one of the Tesco RDC’s but they didn’t get back. They sent me a text to say phone up for a driving assessment but after reading this I don’t think I’ll bother. :open_mouth:
