Hi roughyed,

To clarify for this vacancy (and many others), we are actually acting as the employer. Although we do supply drivers for our clients, drivers work directly for us and have their contract with us, and not with our clients, so for regulations purposes we are the end employer. I hope that clarifies things - but please let me know if you have any other questions.

All the best,
Bess

Yeah, they do run their own trucks as well as supply agency drivers. I presume if you’re in one of their motors they need to keep you running else their motor would be sitting around doing nothing.

Agency drivers are prone to supply and demand whims of customers, always have been and always will be. Bottom line is if you need a guaranteed wage, don’t be an agency driver, simples.

If you believe anything else from an agency, more fool you.

I’m pleased to see that TRG are at least taking an interest. It’s a shame the recruitment staff are not as interested in keeping their promises! When I signed up in December we went to Sainsburys for our site induction, only to be told the contract was only short term. Hearing this we rang our contact, Ashley, who assured us the job was ongoing and all was well. Fast forward to January and no work! After endless phone calls trying to find out what was going on I finally received a letter from TRG saying my employment had been terminated!!! No explanation, nothing at all!!I wouldn’t bring this up here but TRG were not interested and all the people I dealt with seemed to have no idea what was going on and only wanted to pass the buck! If the TRG representative would like to respond, I would be interested to hear what explanation they can offer!

nearly there:
Rikki why are you defending a agencey who are here purely for free adverisment.he hasnt addressed and claim that i can see, just tip toed around them

Well as he’s running a business these days, maybe he’s worried about losing some advertising revenue…

Nope TRG dont advertise with TruckNet, i am more concerned that some members seem determined that they should perpetuate the the thinking that all truck drivers are neanderthal knuckle dragging foul mouthed louts , who cant compose a reasonable, civil discussion, something so far you are trying hard to prove correct  with the comments we have deleted from you.

You mean they aren’t? - Yawn boring Rikki

Plus, as has been over looked by some, Bess from TRG is more than likely a woman, not a man so a little common courtesy wouldn’t go a miss.

Agreed, they should try and put in the advert if it’s temporary or ongoing after Christmas, as a rule and to be fair, a lot of them do.

Any supermarket agency worker will not have work in January & February unless you’re sleeping with the transport manager.

Hi rgt1973,

I’ve queried this with the recruitment team for you. With this particular instance (and many others), the information we give to drivers regarding ongoing work is based upon the information we’re given. At the time it had been indicated to us that work would be ongoing, but unfortunately the volume of drivers needed changed unexpectedly at that site. When this happens, we try to offer work at sites nearby to keep our drivers working, however it is up to the driver whether they are interested in working at an alternative area, as this may not work for everyone. You may have experienced delays in receiving the information while our team was waiting to hear on the expected volume of drivers needed, and thereafter trying to determine which sites would have work available, however I do apologise if we didn’t communicate this well. We have lots of queries every day and do our best to address every one as quickly as we can — we’re currently working on a system to improve how we communicate more effectively to prevent this from happening in future. The termination letter would have referred only to that particular contract and wouldn’t prevent you from working with us elsewhere (if you were interested). I hope that sheds some light on the situation, however please let me know if you have any further questions.

All the best,
Bess

Really you should be a mp with the ansewers you give.you should just say “driver we dont need you no more as the job was short term cover” at least you would be honest then

I dont rely on agencys thank god
From my dealing with agencys i would nt trust as all full of crap
Your only as good as your last day with any of them

i have often seen trg adverts and often meant to contact them but so far had no need as have enough work to keep me going
but in fairness to bess and trg she (i presume a she) is the first agency that i know of that has come on here and speak up for themselves which has to be admired as most agencys wouldnt want to know or reply to complaints so def all my respect goes to trg for this as they must have some interest in what they do

one question for you bess is something i have often come accross to happen is as follows

do you accept european licence drivers or has all your drivers got to have a uk licence (honest answer now please !)

Yup, just thinking that myself, top quality waffle that was

How do we know that the poster really works at trg or am i being silly

good point “nearly there”
but i suppose for now all we can do is take there word for it

TRG might not but do other agencies? I’m thinking C for Charlie and M for Mike…

Hi nedflanders (great name!),

A good question - what is crucial for your licence is that we need the counterpart, which shows a driver’s history and any endorsements/points, this is an absolute requirement for compliance. Very often, European licences do not include the counterpart which can present an obstacle/delays to work - it is possible to obtain a counterpart for a European licence through the DVLA, however if you plan to work in the UK, you may as well obtain the licence which will automatically include the counterpart (as it’ll likely be the same amount of effort, and you won’t have to worry about it going forward).

All the best,
Bess

You don’t fight fair Bess…I had no chance when i saw your lovely visage!

Not to worry, DrivingMissDaisy, takes a lot more than that to scare me off!
