Transport Managers

Just a quick one , just about to start and visit local companies , what is the best time of the week to visit a company and maybe get to speak to the TM , is there a busy time of the week or just turn up and hope to get to speak to him / her , not keen on phoning ,would rather do face to face but realize people are busy in this day and age , any thoughts views guys / girls cheers

I would say it is hit and miss , depending on what line of bussiness they were in. I would not recomend cold calling , i think an appointment would be better. Good Luck

I would say call round in the morning, don’t call in the afternoon after say 2.30- pm as the transport manager/boss (or the person you need to see) will be busy sorting work for the following day, and may well have trucks working to tight delivery deadlines amongst many other problems that go along with the day to day running of a haulage company

Yep, I agree, the window of opportunity is when everything’s just gone out on the road and there hasn’t been time for any brown stuff to hit the fan.

With the company I work for, its safe to turn up any time, and we will always see someone so long as they respect the yard rules, and that they are smart and polite. If your eastern european… English is a must…

Avoid Friday afternoon Monday morning and Wednesday in my experience that’s when it’s manic

We tend to be busy first thin in the morning, steady through the day and then from 3 onwards we are busy.

No idea if it’s true, but people are supposed to be their most mellow just after lunch, when they’ve eaten and over the middle of the day.

We don’t mind people calling in, as long as they are polite and I reckon it shows initiative.

Not before 10:00, and don’t bother after 14:00!!

Cheers for the replies guys , obviously a bit of luck involved whether someone is prepared to see you , prefer face to face so will chance my luck , although I do have full time employment ( not in transport ) will be making moves shortly ,thanks for the tips guys keep you posted on progress .

Maybe phone up before hand & ask if and when it would be convenient to call in■■?
Maybe you’ll get 10 misses & 1 or 2 hits■■?

Between 10am and 11am and bring biscuits
