I’m intrigued by the other fridge trailers. Ken Broster kindly informed me that the unaccompanied Unispeed 'fridge trailers were shipped into Jeddah on the Seaspeed Dora. These were tandem-axle 12m 'fridges loaded with Wall’s products, including ice-cream. Bin-Zagr, S.Jones’s partner in the TA concern, was the Saudi sales agent for all Unilever products.
However, little or no onward distribution was underataken by these trailers because the 'fridge motors were not reliable enough. On board ship they were plugged into the electrics.
My question is: what about the Unifast trailers? Were they all part of the Unilever set-up?

Just found this Youtube clip online. It was probably made when Trans Arabia packed up.
TRANS ARABIA TERMINAL, KHUMRA, SOUTH JEDDAH (youtube.com)
1st , 2nd and 3rd pics look like ex Comart trailers
Possibly: the side doors, for instance…
Here’s a recent quote from Jerry Cooke on Trans Arabia: “In 1976 S Jones Aldridge started Trans Arabia in partnership with Binzagar an Arab Wholesaler they started with 6 brand new left hand drive ERF 7MW tractor units 3 ex S Jones ERF lv units and 1 ERF 5MW unit all Cummins powered. The 30 trailers were a mix of 40foot PSKs and 20foot skellies over the next 10years the fleet was built up to over 50units and nearly 80 trailers!"
To be honest, I hadn’t realised how big TA had grown in those early years. 50 units and 80 trailers is a sizeable fleet, equal to RJ International when it re-emerged from DOW. Just an interesting comparison!
Trans Arabia had lots of ERFs: LV-cabbed oldie, A-series, MGC, NGC, B-series (both 4x2 & 6x4). Why did they not take any LHD C-series? Anyone know?
Cookie might know!
