Stan the man with 104 , Had a TIR plate fitted , certainly the first L/H drive and regular contintal work ,With Stan at the wheel from new What a truck this was , and what a bloke Stan was too RIP , I remember it well this truck was the best of ERF that they built at this time , I was night foreman at the time and when it came in for service I could not wait to road test it With John Davies , I followed its contintal history with interest , never thinking that I would be part of its days in the Sand of Saudi , what a privilege still to have memories of men & Trucking , Ron

Here are a couple of photos some of the local contacts working with Trans Arabia, Ken must have met them.

And some of our own office guys, Dante was still with Trans Arabia in 2014

The memory of Ali, Dante and Mohammed, in the Trans Arabia office, performing a graphic, raunchy song and dance routine, with no accompaniment, to K C and the Sunshine band has haunted me for the last 40 years.

“Thats the way, ah ha ah ha, I like it, ah ha ah ha!”

dhtriyadh, those photos took me back ,with some happy thoughts and then some ? ( What do you mean )The fixer took my passport for a exit re/ entry visa so I could go on leave. And lost it .without that I was in trouble took 3 months to get a new one ? Then they could not understand how I came into the country without a stamp !! Very confusing to say the least , the passport office in Jeddah had a rickety table and to keep it from wobbling they had passports under the leg !! Maybe that what happened , The chauffer had a mouth full of teeth and was always happy !! Although He got told off for foul language when driving The bosses missis around !! Our drivers where always cursing the locals for there bad driving ALI thought this was good English and this was embarrassing at times !The house cleaner was just a young lad and when we had a rornchy film we sat him in front of the box with his hands tightly over his eyes ? Gradually he peeped out looking through his fingers ?

'Awkins , You are due a visit when this Corvid has buggered off.
Tell the missis to bake a cake. Not long now. You have been warned.

Where is the old fella … hope he has,nt disappeared up his own exhaust pipe …and jake braked ■■?.. not a cheep for ages

Pass!
Will have to investigate. I hope he is just skulking somewhere!

Hello you pair, good to hear from near and far .ask for a visit from Merlin bring it on but please where a triple face mask and a plasticky bag over all parts■■? I am still trying to catch up with youth of today !! But I find the twist grip could do with another 1/2 turn ? But this dose have its advantages by the time I reach the destination the drinks have been set up and the lads are glad to see me , same same Trans Arabia

Salahm allykuhm sadiqaa I,m glad to find out you,re still upright and hangin on with both hands… good lad so you be sure and stay out of harms way all good down under

Those where the days ! When our truck the ERF was seen all over the KSA .covering almost all of its land mass some 380,000 square miles ,TMS had 150 6x4,s ERf’s  our sister comp had the same .The contract we had was full on running 24hrs ,with pipes across the trailers in a piramid formation making the the width just over 10 ft ,the mirrors on the trucks looked down the two outside pipes ! We did have teething problems ? To get four of the pipes on the bottom of the pyramid the deck was made wider with cross arms ,this was found to be trouble ! The weight bent the arms out and cracks appeared constantly having to reinforces these arms .in some cases it was a danger to keep the pipes on but fortunately this was sorted out with heavy flinch plates and side legs attached to the trailer rails , all of our c/f trailers had been fitted wth lightweight legs We replace all 600 r with heave duty and plate feet ,The driving was unbearably hot with no A/C Then we found the Taco,s misting up in the heat of this desert land ,lhese where replaced by veeda route at some cost to them ,■■? Then I found the drivers washing the cabs out with the hose pipe ■■? This was the course of the problem .the cAmp was in the middle of the desert it was a hard. Job to say the leased , then some jumped up foreign manager di ceded to cut our food allowance and cut the leaves by 1/2 flying out of kuwait ■■? This was cruel he just sat in his A/C office twiddling his thums , I wished him well ■■? Ron

Exciting and rememberable to this day . Thanks for the ERF Ron
