All sounds a bit like a “First world problems” thread lol…
Seriously though as intimated before, surely the money is the deciding factor all else is relative to that no?
I once worked thru’ a German chartering company from Duisburg and during the summer it can get bloody hot up there, the chartering manager came to the ship one day and said it was too hot in my office/cabin , told me I needed portable a/c unit and he even went and got it for me. Thank you very very much, until I got the next months freight bonus … deduction for one a/c unit !!! tight arse kraut git !

I tramp now. Have my own cool box. But I wouldn’t do general haulage tramping if the gaffer won’t even folk out for a fridge with some of the rates that go with said work. I think for me it is you expect me go stay away for a week/s and you won’t even buy a motor with a fridge? .I reckon I’ve heard it all now mate.
I know times change (and I’m glad they have) but I remember when most expected you (and we did) to go tramping in a motor without a [zb] BUNK.
I was too young to enjoy them days. Maybe I would think differently. Only had one job Hgv job since getting my license I am still here. After some years. I did my time in the deserts so am I ■■■■ working away all week/s with no comforts. Those days are gone for me. Different priories for different people I guess. I’ll be honest, I would take a LITTLE pay hit for a motor with coffee maker, fridge and microwave. I’m talking very little pay hit. Just to make my life more comfortable while I live in my tin can:) apples and oranges

What is the weight limit on Memory lane? And for that matter how much does a fully loaded zimmer frame weigh?

The fridge was the cab roof in winter, and sod all in summer, but transport cafes were mostly better and more numerous, and there was no tracker to tell the office that a dozen off his trucks were parked together, whilst the Drivers were enjoying what amounted to a breakfast party. Happy days
Ps, you had to remember to get your bottle off milk(from the roof) before you drove away, and mostly I did
Doesn’t anyone in this thread consider “tramping” to be degrading and the remuneration to be a pittance?

hahahaha
The word “Tramping” doesn’t exactly fill one with good expectations about the conditions of employ does it lol
These days though there is no need to live like a tramp while trucking, there are facilities (usually not very good) to wash and shower, eat etc. Trucks are comfortable and easy to drive.
I prefer to call Tramping “no home life ing” and that is why I conclude that the money is not enough.
The pay for “driving” is what it is, but the numeration for loss of home life is poor.

Better tramping (euro) than the mundane, and frustrating “chop, chop busy, busy i’ve got to get to work work” often unpaid and expensive daily commute eh troll?
I would sooner wake up at work than spend an hour or more getting to it unpaid and then getting back home again again unpaid, and reducing my daily rest period as well as costing me money in running costs of a car or train/bus /taxi fares you muppet
It seems to be £20 odd per night, and there are drivers who actually think that when they do 4 or 5 of these in a week, they’re earning a fortune!
Worse still, they think they have a normal life. A normal life is what I call working Monday to Friday, 9-5 and then going home. But, not for the long distance dirty cockroach lorry driver, who pulls into a layby on the A14 for 9 hours after working 15 hours! He then eats crap food, then ■■■■■ in a cheap plastic bowl bought from B&M (inside his cab), the turd is then tossed out of the window. The driver then ■■■■■ himself to sleep, whilst looking at the same old ■■■■■ mags, he’s accumulated over time.
I’m not sold to be honest.

I’m on a bit more than 20 a night out . I also don’t stay in lay-bys EVER unless I’m out of time for some unforeseen circumstances. I ■■■■ and shower in proper places. Either when I do my last load, last tip or park up. And I always eat properly! Also have xhamster for ■■■■ and sky go for evening entertainment. Company pays for parking ALL the time.
I think your argument just went to ■■■■ my friend. Try harder. If that’s how you see “trampers” you wouldn’t make a good one.
That extra tax free money I earn end of each week normally goes to having a nice day out somewhere every weekend with my wife and daughter. It works for me. And they appreciate me more when i am home. Which is a lot more than I was in the forces.

I think you are accustomed to living like a dirty nomad. I’d rather go home any day and sleep in my own bed. Even if I’m not getting my £20 something for the pleasure of sleeping in this metal box, that you talk so highly about.
Has it ever occurred to you that a prisoner in jail, has more space in his cell than you do in your cab.
If you were being put up in a hotel, I wouldn’t feel so strongly against it. This is how everyone else in civilisation is accommodated, when they are sleeping away from home for their employers.
LORRY DRIVERS WORK FOR ■■■■!
Dedicated high roof unit as a minimum, or I wouldn’t take the job. If I’ve got a fridge I’m happy, but I can get by with a cool box again, if need be. Had a microwave for 2 years and put 2 stone on. Would never have one again. If I had a choice, I’d like an inverter, so I can run my George Foreman grill

The problem is not the microwave mate it’s those bloody awful processed meals, If I was tramping again I’d have the Wife packaging up 3 or 4 Tupperware tubs of the stews, curry’s and so on she makes (all healthy but extremely tasty)

If you don’t like something do something about it instead of moaning and expecting sympathy. Can’t say I’d want nights out all the time, but I do enjoy them here and there as there’s no hassle the next morning in terms of driving to work, getting your cab ready etc. And to make out its slumming it my cab is really clean and tidy and I get a really good nights sleep. Just because you’re bitter about your life not going how you want it to doesn’t mean others don’t genuinely enjoy their work. You get good days and bad days, but overall I can say that I love my job.

Why give him credibility by answering his infantile attempts at trolling. The boy is a complete prick of the highest order. Every post he makes is belligerent and designed only to cause offence and gain response.
Just ignore him and hopefully he will get bored, ■■■■ right off, and resume playing with himself in his bedroom adorned with Justin Beiber posters.

Plus It’s only a few seconds of my time (and not much brain power) to have a little bit of sport of my own!
