Anybody remember the days when Drivers, before they left home, made sure they had the little red Headlight "Bible"with all the "digs"listed in it,and the note book with all the "back load"numbers and addresss, and a pocket full of 2p
s for the phone.
Not forgetting the sleeping bag and a pillar in case the got stuck and had to “cab it”
No missed that by 10 years or so…but did spend a lot of time looking for phone boxes, I seem to always find the ones that doubled up as a street urinal…

My first couple of years I stopped a few times in digs, and by coincidence a couple of them I found were like street ■■■■ houses
although the odd one was ok.
Still have a few copies of Headlight mag on the loft somewhere.
i had all those things , the address book was supplied by the united road transport union ( only decent thing i got off them ), old tobacco tin full of business cards from the decent digs . oh and it was pennies , threepenny bits and tanners for the phone .dave
