Training vehicles

Are rigid bodies and trailers loaded with weight for training purposes or are they normally empty?

Thanks

Test / training vehicles are now laden

When I went for my assessment drive with Elmet training he said there was 5 tonne of ibc on board so can only assume that this is the usual.

Water filled IBC’s. They travel very well in the truck.

LGV C rigids loaded with 5 tonnes
Drag trailers loaded with 3 tonnes
Artic trailers loaded with 8 tonnes

All in 1 tonne water IBCs secured safely

Thanks for the replies

I’m guessing the handling characteristics of a fully laden vehicle to an unladen one is considerable so it’s good to know I’ll be training with weight.

It should be more. Wagons behave very differently when fully freighted.

Well, to be fair here. Most trainees wouldn’t know the difference because they will most likely not driven a truck before. Once they’ve passed though, you soon find out just how differently a truck behaves.

I have trained for my class 2…The trainer told me that we were pulling 5 tonne, I couldn’t believe it because the truck felt like it could pull a house down, we stoped for a cupper and he opened the rear door… sure enough, 5 ibc’s full to the brim…Now i know how the truck pushing the car along the motorway could do it without feeling a single thing… In the words of Jeremy Clarkson…POWER…

 I heard this earthquake coming up the road the other day while taking my lad to school turned round to see an arctic and trailer with about 50 lights on the roof with a big shiny v8 badge on it. I reckon that could pull the uk over to the states!!

Min 5-6 ton think

If your my way inclined

IT FEELS GOOOOOOOD   :open_mouth:
