It doesn’t ring any bells though, but I wonder if it’s anything to do with the now defunct Stevand of Battlesbridge. They had a lot og Gurkha conections, maybe you got a Nepalese on the phone.
It’s worth considering a bit of travelling to and fro your training provider, the cheapest or nearest is not necessarily the best. I’d recommend DTT Essex but they are based in Colchester, they do test in Chelmsford and might meet you in Chelmsford.
I can’t find the figures now but there are some big differences in the test centre pass rates. Enfield & Purfleet are / were about the same % at a lowish figure, Chelmsford was a bit higher and Ipswich was a fair bit higher as I recall.
Now read into that what you will, it could be the quality of the schools using them, the volume of traffic in the test area or the examiners being slightly harsher on borderline issues. The bottomline on it is that there is / was something like a 20% difference pass rate between Purfleet & Ipswich. That 20% could include you.
Of course figures can be deceiving as the IOW test centre has a ridiculously high pass rate but only tests a handful of people in a year.
