Training provider websites

I don’t know if I’m just being pedantic, but I find myself getting increasingly reluctant to select a training provider that doesn’t list their prices on their website.

Even an estimated hourly rate would be a start on some.

I know that being trained will be a fairly expensive thing as it is, and with being an unpaid carer for an elderly relative for the past 20 months a loan is going to be the only way I am going to be able to afford to do it. Some of the companies I have looked at leave me with no idea as to how much I would even need to look at borrowing. :imp:

Am hoping to get licenced and into work within the next 8 months … found out last week that my Mrs is expecting :grimacing:

Prices can fluctuate so its always better to ring and then perhaps negotiate a price

It’s always best to ring or pop in and ask. Even if prices are quoted on the company’s website it is still worth ringing and asking what the fee actually includes. For example, some companies will list a price which is purely their training fee and doesn’t include the other fees such as theory, test fee etc (and therefore look cheaper), whilst another company’s fee may be an all in fee.

Always clarify exactly what you’re paying for before parting with any money.

If my website isn’t clear on pricing, I GIVE you a free course!!

But I know exactly what you mean. I wouldn’t be keen to phone anyone who cant publicise their prices. Special offers can be added to any site very easily so Rog’s comment doesn’t work for me.

The hard fact is that the sales team want to get hold of you, reel you in - and then let you know how much it’ll cost you.

All the best, Pete

Ok just added my prices on my website (on the twitter feed)

Proper thing to do IMO. I also have a problem with truck dealers advertising vehicles with no prices. And then, on the very rare occasions I’ve rung, you don’t get a price till they know who you are. That just seems perverse to me. And a very odd way of doing business.

People spending money with trainers will often spend £1500 and frequently this will go well over £2000. Surely we need to give the customer the courtesy of letting them have the prices from the website.

I have simplified our charging no end.

It’s in 3 bits:

Starter pack
Prac course
Driver cpc (IMO folks with grandfather rights should now be doing this so let’s not try and disguise the fact)

Then upgrade from C to CE if required.

I’m not putting the prices on here because there are rules about advertising that I frequently get close to breaking! But the prices are on the website and are fully inclusive of VAT and test fees. I believe in treating adults like adults. I’ve done it for as many years as we’ve had a website and previously in Yellow Pages ads and local press ads.

I would suggest you look at some prices yep but please dont go for the cheapest

Select a few then go visit them ask for an assessment then take for there

( no I am not a trainer btw )
