Hello, I am new to trucknet. I have been reading these posts for a couple of weeks now.
The time has come to admit that I am not fit to work in an office.
As such I am hoping to start LGV training in the next month or so and wondered if anybody could recommend a good training school in the Leeds area. I am planning to do class 2, get a bit of experience then progess to class 1.
Has anybody had any experience of L&T training in Wakefield or Atkins on Elland Road in Leeds??
I also have what is probably a really dumb question - How does being paid an hourly rate work? Do you only get paid for hours spent driving or for all hours you are ‘at work’?
Also what is the situation with nights out, ie are any payments made for nights spent in the cab??

I can very highly recommend R A Jackson at Sherburn in Elmet (about 15 miles east of Leeds) http://www.rajackson-lgv.com/. I did both my tests with him and found him excellent.
Go to ADTS in Leeds, based in the container base at Stourton. Bloke who runs it is called Paul Gentle and can be found on 0800 085 1265.
His prices are good in comparison to others and I did my class 2 and 1 with him. It’s one on one tuition, not 2 trainees at a time like most other companies do.
Rob, Paul Genrle has packed in training. I trained with him too and Phillipa (just drivers ) was sending her agency drivers to him but he packed in all of a sudden!!! I agree he was a great bloke to train with.

I did a night out a few weeks back and
the guy gave me £30 cash to pay for
parking and get some food. The
agency I am with at the moment pay
£21 night out money though.

Paul was fab, I think he packed in after I passed my class 2 and asked him when we were starting on my class 1!!!
I think his lads went to L&T but don’t quote me on it!!

They were featured in a TV programme called " Life on the Road" with some idiot who couldn’t pass his class one. can’t think who that could have been.
