i only realised last month that you now need a ticket to operate a tail-lift, i mentioned this to someone in a certain workplace training company who says there is new law that says for a workman to use a screwdriver at work he needs to be trained
Crazy
I think there was a post on here about a bus driver not being allowed to reverse or something.
My 200th post
Most places ‘sign you off’ to being shown how to use a tail lift correctly for H&S crap, even using pallet truck and climbing in/out the cab. It covers their arses from being sued that’s what it is down to

It’s no longer a screwdriver, now they have to be called a rotational torque applying device

wasnt it DAF95XF when he was on buses saying the company policy who we worked for said they could not reverse the busses
Most bus drivers around my way should’nt be allowed to go forward, never mind backwards…!

I’m off to Poland.
To get the LGV licence in Poland costs much more than the UK - it is either 180 or 280 hours to get it and very very expensive - the old myths are now dead

I do car driver assessments for a local Old People Care company who employ Polish care assistants, the manager said this one should be alright Mike he has been driving lorries in Poland for 2 years. This company has had so many car written off, it pays me to check their licence is valid from the point of veiw that they can drive and offer them training and advice on driving on the left in the UK. This company puts them in a rented flat for 12 months and gives them a new company car. So whilst we all find it difficult when driving abroad for the 1st hour you would at least expect him to use his mirrors wouldn’t you? Or to use the handbrake when waiting to emerge from a steep uphill T junction with a STOP sign and line, whilst waiting for heavy traffic instead of holding it on the clutch. I asked him it he knew were the blindspots were? He couldnt tell me. After the assessment he asked me did I know of any companies taking on LGV drivers.AHHHHHHHHH

That may very well be true at the moment Peter, but I imagine that would change the second an Egyptian licence holder finds a suitable ambulance chasing shyster lawyer who claims it infringes his human rights. you watch the government cave then.
