A lonely thought wandered through my head this evening - not a lot to stop it perhaps! From time to time, a disappointed newbie posts of their trials and tribulations in their dealings with their chosen trainer.
It occurs to me that if newbies were to consider using the regular trainer contributors on this forum, then they are guaranteed excellent service from the trainer. I have met all the trainers concerned and they all share my passion for doing the job correctly. We don’t all do it the same - and from time to time we have a bit of friendly banter. And that’s all it is. It lightens what could otherwise be a tough job occasionally.
I say folks would be “guaranteed” a top job based on the fact that, knowing the trainers concerned, we would all be gutted if we got a poor write up. Reputation is everything. Making a profit is important - but it is secondary.
Just this week I received a pm from a forum member who had booked. When I spoke with him I promised him 14 hours cpc from his driver training. When he called the office and booked, the timings were given to allow for the vehicle to be used for another course that week. He pm’d me and clearly wasn’t happy with this. At 7 the next morning, I went to the office (I wouldn’t have done so normally) and altered his appointments so he qualified for the 14 hours. As a direct result, the vehicle is now redundant for half of that week as we cant do another test. This is what I mean by putting reputation before profit. I have probably lost £250 profit on the week to provide 7 hours of cpc (at no charge BTW!). But this is fine and is always how I’ve operated. Customer first, me second.
I suppose my point is this. There are around 4 or 5 regular trainer/contributors on here. To use one of us puts the newbie in a strong position. The last thing any of us would want is to be slated on here. We all do good deals though none of us offers exactly the same thing except high levels of customer service.
Having made this point, I’ll struggle to be “nice” to those who book elsewhere and get their fingers burnt.
Hope that’s fair.
BTW, I’ve had no conversation with other trainers regarding this post but I’m confident in what I say virtually on their behalf.
