Trainer putting in a shift

Whilst sat on the sofa yesterday morning I received a phone call from my old transport manager who I use to work for.

He asked " are you doing anything today as we are desperate one of the drivers has rung in sick". After a little thought I said "yes although you will have to pick me up as my cars in for MOT.

So I was picked up from home, when I got to the depot my truck was loaded (plywood and MDF) but not strapped down so I spent 15 minutes securing it.

First drop into Castleford then a half hour drive to Wetherby for 2 drops then up the A1 to Harrogate across to near Leeds Bradford airport finishing off with 3 drops in South Leeds.

When I got back to the depot I was thanked by the manager for getting them out of the [zb] and arranged a lift to take me home.

With a sense of job satisfaction and a little thirsty I got dropped off at my local pubs where I was ribbed from my friends saying about time you did a proper days work. 8 pints later it was a little stagger home carrying my work bag.

I really enjoyed my shift.

All I can say is its good that trainers do get out now and again… maybe you should suggest it to them idiots at the test centre… maybe they could do with some real life experience on the road making deliveries …lol
