Trailer without reverse light wiring?

I have recently had a go at finding a reverse live on my Van Hool trailer as I have no reverse light fitted.

I have had the junction box off and tested inside to no avail.

Does anybody know if trailers are fitted from factory with reverse wiring or not?

Depends if it is wired in start at the socket end it will be wired through the fog lamp socket or ‘S’ socket, then follow back to each junction box… i think it’s pin no.3 the yellow wiire IIRC.

Reverse lights are not legally required on a trailer.

true, but its nice to let others know my intentions. I also want a reverse alarm fitted at the rear so its a dual purpose thing.

Wouldn’t expect a standard trl to have the wiring in its loom.
Be careful that the reverse alarm must be cancellable at night time.
Also be aware, & i know no details at all, that the type of “noise” generated could well be covered under future new laws. White directional noise is what you want.

You say that but most of the Sainsbury’s trailers I drive, you can’t silence the trailer reversing alarm…only the alarm on the tractor unit. Considering the majority of stores I deliver to are next to houses, I’m amazed Sainsbury’s haven’t been landed with thousands of court cases.
