Trailer shortage

No need to worry about driver shortage this x-mas, as according to Motor Transport website there’s a shortage of trailers[emoji1787][emoji1787][emoji1787]

“Trailer manufacturers and dealers are warning of a “trailer drought” in the UK ahead of the Black Friday and Christmas peaks, with prices for second hand trailers reaching unprecedented levels.”

With Cartwright going bust who would have foreseen this then [emoji6][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]
Or have the dealers got a glut of second hand ones and are trying to hype a shortage to shift them [emoji848][emoji848][emoji848]

Has Cartwright’s really gone bust?.

I did hear on some news programme bout a week ago . there was a supply issue with containers. Containers arnt where there meant to be. Or sat in storage full. Not where there meant to be etc.

We shunted some Cartwright trailers back to the Stillingfleet hire depot the other week when they requested them back, this was a couple of weeks after the parent company went bust

It’s my understanding that the manufacturing arm has gone into administration but the rental/maintenance side of things has been sold to A N Other.

The rental side appears to have a stranglehold on the fleet trailer rental market with Zenith and Contract Vehicles. its a big lump of the hire business.

Must be in competition with Gray and Adams for the worst trailers

Dunno about “Trailers”, but there does seem to be a shortage of 2nd hand ANYTHING “Roadworthy-at-point-of-sale” right now…

Am trying to buy another old banger, but the ones on sale - have no MOTs on them, presmably because of the lockdown…
What good is a 2nd hand motor with no bloody MOT on it?
I may as well keep my 500 quid car, and end up spending more than that ON it. :unamused: :unamused:

Rather than scrap this car I’m going to try and sell it to some naive Muppet instead!

…I can’t imagine any muppets being out there to be found though… No one is going to buy a car that cannot be taxed and insured on the spot “cos it has no MOT”.

There’s even so called “Trader” Vendors that are offering to bring the useless car on sale for prices like £500-£1200 around on the back of a flatbed “absolutely free”, to dump outside one’s house…
I also see non-runners on sale for £5, which suggests that the days of getting around £105 for scrapping such a vehicle - have now ended.

…If someone like me went for that, I’d then not be able to get a parking permit for my locale, because you have to sport a valid tax & MOT to park in these council-revenue places… :unamused: :unamused:
