Trailer service due yesterday

I’m in Sheffield from Bristol on a day run to do a trailer swap but the service due date on the trailer to bring back was yesterday.

I’ve been told by the boss to write on the defect note that the trailer testing site is our yard, which it is, and that this will cover me.

But is this strictly legal to drive 180 miles to the testing site? If I get stopped will they say I should have taken the trailer somewhere closer?

I wouldn’t think anyone Would be interested unless you told them .

The servicing of a trailers not a drivers concern ! its the operators if its legal and has no defects get on with it

its a service no mot … crack on you’ve defected it for out of service which in itself its not really a defect but jut a note for the office.
In saying all of that whens the unit due for a service ?
the service dates are really so that it gets picked up like you have and brought to someone’s attention.
10 points to you for picking it up, shows you do your checks

It’s a service date set by your firm not vosa .theres nothing to say It ever has to be serviced as long as it’s inspected around the agreed inspection periods and faults rectified then crack on

Service or mot  if its a service i wouldnt worry ,if its mot you have got a full month to get it in or its gone over a day and needs taking in asap,a defect note will cover it to take it for mot if its gone over.

Nice one, cheers all

If your company didn’t put stickers on the trailer, what would you have done after you coupled it up?

Option 1. Quick check over, all good to go.
Option 2. Call the office to see if it was still in service?

Sometimes too much info is a bad thing.
