Our company is based in UK and Europe. The European trailers are used here and abroad . New trailers are registered in Holland and have a Dutch plate but what is the position with driving them here. Old trailers had a holder for the UK plate matching the unit but not now. Should a UK plate be displayed on the rear when used in UK bearing in mind they might be used for UK work for a few weeks?
If your using a UK regd veh, then UK No plate rules apply
Numberplate attached by chains, bungees, cable ties etc comes to mind.
UK Rules, number plate with “chain & dog clips” attached or if the electrics are not compatible its marker board with number plate in view.

Whenever they’re coupled to a UK tractor unit they need a UK registration plate on. Surely you can’t have failed to see the thousands of foreign trailers being towed by UK tractor units with UK registration plates on, often to be seen dangling on chains with dog clips on off the back door handles?

I sure have. Just asking for the legality of it all
I suppose technically they should have number plate illumination bulbs as well for all these plates fastened on be bungee cord or short chains with carabiners, but in all my years I’ve never heard of anyone being prosecuted for it.
Doesn’t mean it hasn’t happened though.
