Doesn’t anyone carry a sweeping brush anymore?
Those with walking floors do.
Saaamon:
Do it by eye and if you come to a bridge and think its abit tight stick your head out the window as you go under.

Always have a sweeping brush,
nothing worse than having to bend down for 20 mins scrapping the back of your trailer
with a number plate or a hand brush?

And remember if you only just squeezed under it and fancied coming the same way back once you’ve dropped your load then dont! Obvious I know but I’ve heard a few “well I got under it this morning I just don’t understand how it’s happened” with there cabs wedged under a bridge.
Been driving roro’s for 2 year regularly having to go under a 13’ 3’’ bridge at inverkeithing, if it banged the bridge… Which leads over the forth just drop the bin onto its rollers and drag it under simples
This is a question i’ve wanted to ask…
trailer at our yard say the trailer height on the head board but ask you to add this to the fifth wheel height, do you just measure the fifth wheel from the floor up to the plate??
Regarding the above post, do the trucks have a height of the 5th wheel marked up on them somewhere? Maybe on the weight plate or summat?
I’ve pulled many a trailer in my time & I must say tesco are the most stupid of all, what good is the body height only to me or the Agy driver? Every other trailer I’ve pulled has an overall height based on a certain 5th wheel height or something (which is not easy to find), make life difficult for the poor driver why don’t you, then cry foul when their kit gets smashed up…

£70 !!!
Neat device but geeesh…
That’s cheap just checked a couple of my measuring suppliers £100+VAT+£10 Delivery for a similar item upto 5m though!
Now that’s ripping the zb out of it. Liking wheelnut’s offer now that’s a dual purpose tool! Saving you more money and only carrying one item on board

Yes, but don’t forget the suspension is variable. On my Man its got the standard driving position 48"-122cm, the lower position is 44.5"-113cm & the highest position is 50"-127cm. So there’s a 6" difference, can be quite handy if you need to loose couple of inches but don’t forget the rear of the trailer & make sure the suspension is set in the right driving position (usually with the handle pulled out) I always double check with a tape measure if I hook up to a strange/hire trailer, just to be sure.
Another little point is- Make sure your height marker in the cab is set right, for the trailer you are pulling, load you are carrying or the RoRo bin you’ve got on board. They can nick you if it’s wrong !

Or if there’s a trucker slowly coming your way, ask him how’s it looking.

Hook trailer up, measure from floor to bottom of the trailer at approx 5th wheel point - if in doubt, slightly further forward rather than backwards

I used to have manual sheets, we had to walk across the load to sheet it, then the landfills started putting Gantry’s with harness’s on that we had to use, Health & Safety & all that !
Try walking across a 40yrd roll’on bin loaded with plastic bottles to sheet it. I was so glad when easy sheets became the norm’.
