Traffic software

Does Any Know Of Anybody thats sells traffic software for maybe up tp 10 trucks had a look thru the net made some calls and e-mails but there all talking 1000s new pc ,servers, etc had a friend that had DBS dead simple cheap but they went bust last year was a stand alone but was ok until you had aproblem he said but it was so simple to use why no firms do something simple for the small operator ,any thoughts ?

This is a cheap option, wopuld just need compatible phones in the wagons.
Used it on a charity banger rally across Europe last year and it was brilliant. the guy that runs the site is a spot on chap too, and if its not what you need I am sure he would point you in the right direction.

An iPhone can be used with the link posted above, thereby negating the need for a GPS receiver (it’s already built-in to the iPhone). Also there are mapping solutions that work on the iPhone and internet access is one of it’s strong points.

Sounds like 10 x iPhones for your drivers will be a cheaper solution that what you have been quoted.

Only problem with the iphone is that they do not multi task, so if a call has been made, you will drop off the radar until the driver re-establishes a connection. io used this application on a blackberry and it worked fine.

I thought that the multitasking issue had been addressed with the 3GS? I know that my 3G doesn’t do it but I thought the new one did.

I have the new one, Marcus. I use google latitude so i can see where all my mates are, but if I take a call, my position remains static, and does so until I invoke latitude again. Definately Nokia or Blackberry i would recommend.

Personally though, I love my 3GS.

Hi its not so much as a tracking device i need but software for creating jobs for invoicing .do basic book keeping as well any more thoughts?
have trackers on vehicles tells me where there are every 2 mins records speed and stop times has been a great money earner for charging out demurrage times and you can e-mail details straight to customer has a built in alert time if the vehicle is stopped for any more than 15 mins during the day time!

If it’s accounting software you need, then have a look at Sage Line 50.
It’s about £500, but it can be installed easily and working in no time. Can’t
think you’d need to buy a new server and PCs for it.

My Dad (a technophobe and totally computer illiterate  ) bought
it for his business and had it and working within an hour.

Try Road Runner. Quite basic and also have an accounts package which is quite useful. Not too pricey either.

Invoceing on the go I use invoicem2go on iPhone also there’s accounting software is this for you or the drivers as well have a look at copilot for the tracking at be a window or android handset would be answer for the drivers as this addresses the multitasking issue if it’s signiture capurte you want then this all available but would cost thousands the systems you been quoted for must be for bespoke systems you can peice whatvyour after together fir much less money

iPhone multitasking should be version 4 but yet again apple looks like they are limiting the multitasking to certain apps

have a look at orchestrator.co.uk/Default.aspx

I would like to suggest you to use a cell phone with GPS and other technologies or iPhone for your recommendations. I think blackberry and nokia will be most beneficial for you because some of their new products helps you in multitasking like during a call the radar connection or any thing else will not be lost so no need of reconnection. I also like 3GS and new version of iPhone that provides me the better results than others. You can make use of Road Runner which is easy and compatible software that does not contain higher price so suitable to your budget.
