Today the police and some other outfit, might have been called “Streetwise”, I’m not too sure, decided to set up a “Traffic census” point on the main road just outside where I’m working this week. I’d never seen anything quite like this before, they had one carriageway coned in and were stopping about five or six cars at a time, causing everyone behind to be held up for who-knows-how-long. I wouldn’t have minded so much except they’d set up in between the depot and the nearest filling station
Does anyone know if they tend to do this in the same spot on multiple days? Sods law dictates that the truck I’m using tomorrow won’t have been filled up before it was brought back.
Cheers, that’s what I was hoping to hear. I’m assuming they go for the element of surprise and that once the word spreads people might be likely to avoid the road in question, thus affecting the sample for their census.
Not saying it’s impossible, but never seen it myself. Not entirely sure what their purpose is nowadays, but I doubt the “traffic census” and nothing else, honest guv, bit is kosher…
The evil git that murdered my brother in laws neice and two others was trapped at a"census" point in Scotland. The police had been tracking him via his mobile phone and got lucky in having the right people in the right place at the right time to nab him without spooking him .
Wildy:
Nowadays people post on Facebook as soon as census points are set up so they can be easily avoided. I’m not sure they are relevant anymore.
This internet ■■■■■ works both ways. Reading grumpyken52’s post, that one worked, but what if he’d been forewarned by muppets that post anything and everything on bloody faceache etc.

Then he would have been caught another way.
I don’t class people who help others by letting them know where the filth are “muppets”, quite the opposite.
Hi, I was caught in the one at Marne ( Catterick) yesterday. Stop where have you come from says she, Ripon says I, do you have a post code says she, yes says I, can I have it says she, no says I, ok says she on your way.■■? thebeardedone
In California the police used to post it in the local paper that there was to be a license check at a time and place, apparently if they did not it was classed as intrapment

On slightly different topic. Google maps now has speed cameras and there’s an icon you can press to report a mobile speed camera etc.
A few times I’ve had a warning come up camera head and there’s a van parked up.
Point is there’s people out there reporting locations of cameras sensor points etc . While driving .and obviously using there phones to report it
Drempels:
Very unlikely they will be in the same spot, two days in a row.
Sat on the same road, same spot near manchester airport for 4 days, last year
They get police there as it’s a legal requirement to follow the police officers instructions, but you don’t have to answer there questions, and they also when they did it, are not allowed, H&S to come to the drivers window.
they used this parking space area on the cargo center, pulling in both cars and trucks, asking where you are going and what business you have here. Even the bloody airlane trucks where stopped. caused choas all week it did!

Yes, they do (or did) the same thing in LHR, on the Perimeter Road. As far as I know, the MAR airport code doesn’t relate to a place near Catterick.

Really,
You’re the bloke I fear most. The know-all helmet in the RDC waiting room. I’ve never met you - for good reason.
I know this about you though, you’ve been further than me, in less time. You know a better route than I do, you can get into places I can’t, your crane is bigger, better, and longer than mine. Your tilt is under 4m on super singles, but holds more than mine. Your fridge will pull -50 in +70 ambient, grapes pull down real well, real quick. Your ■■■■■■ is a moron, he would never have let that van past. Etcetera, etcetera, excrement.
You say you live “some of your time” in “Holland”. Do you? I spent a large part of my youth in NL, I grew up speaking Dutch, English, and French. I think you’re full of ■■■■.
