Tractor driver fined

Highway Code Rule 169-

“Do not hold up a long queue of traffic, especially if you are driving a large or slow-moving vehicle. Check your mirrors frequently, and if necessary, pull in where it is safe and let traffic pass”

I always thought that the rule was-if you have more than 6 cars behind you, you need to pull into a safe place/lay by, not a driveway, junction or the verge.

If there were no lay bys or safe places in the 3 miles that Mr ‘Inbred’ Yokel held the traffic up, what could he have done ?

When trucks where limited to 40 how many pulled up when they had 6 cars behind them

None, because that was what we were limited too, I didn’t agree with it, but hey ho, the powers that be decided to cause massive 40 mph traffic jams &
Loads of Fatal Crashes, at least they’ve seen sense now [emoji6]

Not quite as bad as 20 mph behind a tractor though, being driven by a 10 year old Inbred on his phone [emoji22]

But tractors are limited just the same as trucks, they are both working, both legally allowed on the roads so no difference.

Well it is a bit different if you are using an example of a 50 mph road, with one vehicle doing 10 mph below that, and another vehicle doing 25 mph below that. So one is travelling at 80% of the max speed, and the other at 50% of the max speed, so it’s not the same. Yes they are linked, but saying they are the same is an overstatement. Does a tractor also drive for mile after mile on that road, or do they generally only travel short distances along a road for access?

Muckaway, dont know where you’re driving but in Notts or my old haunt of ■■■■■■■ i’ve not seen an old red Massey for years. All massive machines, usually max 2 year old and pulling trailers that really should be on an arctic. Think they got the wrong idea about tractor unit.

We’re all doing a job for sure but beyond getting in the way of BMW’s tractors dont appear to do much useful on the roads.

I think that the sheep fancier has been an oik and failed the attitude test. Then the masons found the worn tyre and it went down hill from there. Its really the second vehicle that causes the tail back.If a cautious old oaf wont pass the third vehicle has to pass a car, trailer and tractor.

Exactly that! Then the German saloon with 400bhp has a try from 5 cars back…

This is literally my drive to work every night during summer. My route to work is on a main holiday route to the M62 and its single carriageway. You always get some ■■■■■■ driving back home at 40MPH and a string of cars behind them who can’t be arsed/aren’t competent enough to overtake so I end up always doing a several car overtake at least once a night. My car has a lot of mid-range torque and gets from 40-70 really quickly which is why I’m a bit reluctant to change it as its a great car for overtaking.

Bluey Circles:
utterly bizarre, £190 fine + costs + penalty points for delaying some car drivers by about 3 minutes

Seems like common sense Policing to me. If you can’t keep up with the flow of traffic you shouldn’t be on the road…

We must be classic tractor country here then Trev. Not seen it for a while but some old yokel near Banbury was still annoying motorists with an ancient International until recently. It seems to be a clapped out Manitou towing a rotten trailer that does the crawling road block nowadays. With the odd ancient Fastrac (anything but) wheezing up hills.

There was a tractor driver done on the Larne/Belfast road, a year or two before it was dualled.

I got caught behind a tractor yesterday, all the way through Taunton town centre to Norton Fitzwarren ( where I was uplifting) and still the muppet hadn’t pulled over once despite the huge queue behind him, todays prize muppet was the fat white van driver towing a flatbed trailer in Lancaster services who drove right up to Greggs and parked in two disabled spaces whilst he went in to get his sausage rolls and donuts, he even had his 17-18 year old assistant waiting in the van who could have been sent to do the purchase from a decent ■■■■■■■■■■■■, fat ■■■ seem surprised when I told him what a fat lazy c and a selfish disgrace to humanity he was, old lady who overheard agreed with me though

should not have to mac 12, cars nowadays are far superior in power and if an available overtake comes around they would be passed the HGV in literally 2 to 6 seconds and gone, and besides 40 mph was better than 15 to 25 mph done by tractors

I hate it when you get stuck behind a classic vehicle be it a traction engine, lorry etc and they have a plaque on the back saying “you are following a 1925 (whatever)…” Who cares? Move it on a lorry, if you own a traction engine you can afford it.
Tin hat on, or is it a vintage petrol can as displayed by saddos at local rallies.

Most car drivers have lost the ability to perform overtaking maneuvers these days , and just sit right up your arse instead

Tractor driver’s must do list;

MUST put mud all over road to endanger all other road users.
MUST hold as many people up as possible.
MUST pull out regardless of the road situation.
MUST pile as many bales of hay on a trailer as possible.
MUST have all light lenses smashed or missing.
MUST have seat set so that you look like you are bouncing around more than a fan of the Happy Mondays circa 1990.

Tractor driver’s must NOT do list;

MUST NOT pull over under ANY circumstances.
MUST NOT look intelligent.
MUST NOT shave.
MUST NOT indicate.
MUST NOT have any friends.

Feel free to add any more observations…

This. If I drove our 3cx on the footpath people would still sit behind me.

Ooh arr…they can’t read or write but they can drive a tractor

I’m surprised Dri that nobody has stuck that Wurzels song on here yet…

" I got twenty acres, you got forty three…"

…must sell land to developers or quarry operators.
Must be the first to object to planning applications from the above.

Don,t see many stuck under low bridges or width restrictions like so many of the " professional" drivers
