is it ok to do traction work with a hired tractor unit if you only have vehicles but no trailers on your o-licence?

Moose is right, whilst you have the trailer in your control you are deemed to be operating it and therefore it needs to be within the limits of your o-licence.

You are responsible for the trailer`s road worthiness though and any prohibitions would be against our licence, so if you are unlucky enough to get one make sure that your customer gets the prohibition removed.
