My fridge trailer got a tacker but the boss doesnt really keep his eye on the little petty stuff as he on the road to and the only time HQ ring is to let me know the fridge trailer temp as dropped or gone up I mean if its quite a bit,

Tracked yes. Harassed no.
Same here. My phone can go weeks without ringing.
used to have trackers at my last place, the office muppets would be forever phoning up and asking why I was sitting for an hour to sometimes 3 hours with the engine, running but stuck in the same spot.they hadnt worked out that to use the hiab i had to have engine running

he wasn’t answering his phone so the TM called a staff member at St Columb branch to go check it out & turned out the driver had suffered a stroke while he was having his break. Are you sure they were concerned about the driver’s welfare or more for the vehicle & it’s load/contents?
we all got phones so a breakdown would have been reported & not worried about load mate , you’d need to be pretty desparate & have a few thousand carrier bags to run off with 18 tonnes of bulk cattle feed
our trackers were originally looked into a long time ago, but a reduction in insurance became a factor & the theft & later burnt out 6wheeler became the last straw for that particular camel

This phone has been going off on average 6 times per day asking what’s taking so long or why I’m stopped. I’ve spoken to the others blokes and they’ve had the same, we’ve an 83 year old driving for us and the old boy just turned it off![]()

Is this normal? Or will the office get bored of their new toy? I [zb] hope they do.
I understand probably most of you are tracked so just wondering if this is the norm.
I suggest you tell you management to look up thier Corperate Responibilty regarding mobile phone use whilst driving. The advice for best practice is that mobile phones should be switched off whilst driving even if you have a hands free system. But at very least they should keep phone calls to a minimum.
I’ve had trackers on different jobs for last 12yrs or so, if I get a genuine phone enquiry say an ETA fair enough, but the very few times that I have had a “why are you going that way” or “why have you stopped there” etc when I know I am doing nothing wrong, I have found that a “I know how to do this job so ■■■■ off and let me get on with it” type answer normally gets the message across, all it needs is a bit of display of backbone, which seems to be lacking in a lot of drivers today, that is why they do it!
Somes up some people’s works
Update:
Bumped into the big boss at around 1am at the yard last night. I’ve seen this bloke maybe 3 times in 12 months . We get chatting anyway as I know him well through being my old mans best mate. I told him the issues I was having with the new tracking system.
Right there in front of me he wrote an email to all the office idiots saying the drivers are not to be harassed over their whereabouts as long as the job is getting done. He also added that the big flat screen is being moved out of their office and into his so they can stop ‘wasting time’
Haven’t had a phone call today so seems to be working!
Result!!!

A proper gaffer!
All our coaches have trackers on them as well…
The office called me a few weeks ago to ask why I was stationary on the A33 and I said well if you look out the window now you can see me pulling in and the reply was the tracked must’ve frozen
