Trackers

Had a tracker in my old lorry and was never hassled even when i was lost and off route, last company i was at who were always well up for an argument at the drop of a hat never pulled me up on tracker. From my own experience its the trouble makers that appear to be monitered, but in this case it seems like their still like a kid at christmas with their new toy lol  .

Just wondering what other peoples experiences of this are because it’s finally happened at my place (there are only 3 drivers)

I turned up last At the yard Monday morning and the office has been set up with a nice big flat screen showing exactly where we are and speed etc. while staring at this screen I got handed a nice new iPhone which the nice flat screen is linked to :stuck_out_tongue:

This phone has been going off on average 6 times per day asking what’s taking so long or why I’m stopped. I’ve spoken to the others blokes and they’ve had the same, we’ve an 83 year old driving for us and the old boy just turned it off

Is this normal? Or will the office get bored of their new toy? I [zb] hope they do.

I understand probably most of you are tracked so just wondering if this is the norm.

Go into settings then privacy then turn location services off or delete the app that’s running the tracking, job sorted.

Tracked yes. Harassed no.

I have a tracker, never bothered me,got nothing to hide so why should I worry?

The office ask us to ring in twice daily approx 10am and again at 1pm for a route update.
Other than that I don’t get bothered,as long as the work is done.

As everyone else has said if you crack on and get your job/s done and get the backload picked up and don’t take the ■■■■ traffic offices very rare bother you. It’s the ones who pull into lay bys after only driving down the road an hour and who don’t get the job done they hassle as it tends to be these who’s trucks ain’t earning the company a crust.

Do the job you are paid for!! Any hold ups/delays ring them and let them know the reasons. If they still hassle you put in a formal complaint or just simply tell them  I’ve been tracked for years and have camera fitted as well with no problems.

My TM told me today our lorries are being fitted with trackers. The newest three have them already which records all he usual stuff. I’m looking to the positive; Already doing 60 odd hours per week and speeding to get all the drops off, I reckon now we’re being watched then sticking to 40 etc could mean a legit reason to bring stuff back.

Just to add in response to the ‘do the job you’re paid for’ comment.

I get given my collections and deliveries for the week on Monday morning or Sunday night via text, there’s none of this ‘can you just pop here’ business. Some weeks are busier than others but in the 12 months I’ve been here I’ve never not completed my weeks work.

This week for example I’ve got one delivery to the Trafford centre tomorrow because I’ve put the hours in earlier in the week.

If I was tossing the job off I’d expect to be hassled but its really not in my nature to go to work for a half arsed effort.

Sorry for the rant but I didn’t want to come across as moaning because I’m a lazy git getting hassled

Well no, but there’s nowt positive being up this time of the morning, knowing I’ve got at least a 12 hour day, mostly London and a couple of awful drops with no mate.

Put some chicken coop wire over the little aerial and it goes “blind”

The holes in the wire have to be less than 10 mm to block the signal.

Make sure when your tipped you stay within the ring -fence  ,get to know lads/lasses at place you tip and they’ll let you park up in a quiet part of the yard for a hour or two  :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue:
N.b so I’ve been told    :stuck_out_tongue: :sunglasses:

I wear a hat fashioned from silver tin foil, not only can I not be tracked but “THEY” can’t hear what I’m thinking.

Got trackers on the trucks where I work, don’t get any hassle or annoying phone calls either , they just let us get on with the job

I wish our lot would use the trackers more! I often get to a pick-up, load up, start the engine, only to get a call asking if I’m there yet as there is another collection from the same place

Look at the tracker! I got here an hour ago!

I still get the odd stupid phone call asking for my whereabouts, always give them a location at least 100miles off-I’m left alone after that…

One of our drivers was reported for a hit and run incident, the insurance firms got involved and the police ended up giving the accuser a formal warning.

The tracker proved that on the time and date stated, the unit was 32 miles away !

we’ve had trackers fitted for the last 3-4 years , & to start with it was a great new toy for the office, nowadays though it’s used for what it was meant for a quick glance up to see who’s where & how people are getting on as if one driver has problems another drivers workload can be changed to get the loads covered, although we stil get the hillarious cals which start with where are you , oh it gets us everytime !

on one occasion it probably saved a drivers life,it was noticed that he was in a layby near Indian Queens, Cornwall for quite some time , & he wasn’t answering his phone so the TM called a staff member at St Columb branch to go check it out & turned out the driver had suffered a stroke while he was having his break.

They can be either a help or a hindrance according to the situation & how it’s use. I 'm glad it helped to save that drivers life molepower.
Some trackers can allow surrounding noise to be 'listened ’ to :open_mouth: …I don’t sing anymore !! :stuck_out_tongue:

Are you sure they were concerned about the driver’s welfare or more for the vehicle & it’s load/contents?
