You are all a set of barstewards .
Tha’d all better ask our lass ,she’ll tell yer I’m straight as a die.Anyroad it’s not allowed in t’IOM so don’t any of yer bother coming over if you are bit that way inclined.
I am lost now with all these strange words you keep coming out with I remember H Baxter very well and I belive they may still run but not too sure. I know Tower Hill ran a big fleet out of Boston and tramped all over the country didnt they buy BOw Bells Transport as well .? Anybody remember. I would love it if anyone does have any old pics to show me on here. I remember Bewick because we used to deliver a lot of paper out of Boston with Benton Bros to all the northern mills.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH sorry for going off topic
Hi Baxter Boy.Take no notice of these doddering old pensioners. They are all past their sell by dates.
I am sorry that I dont have any pics of Tower Hill.but when I was younger I had no interest in photography. Now I,m
in my seventies its too late.I remember the S type Bedford.I once loaded out of Boston from Tower Hill with a load of butter.
This was about 1630.The guy said to me “You have to be in Falmouth by 0800 tomorrow” My reply was unpleasent because he
told me never to come back again. What a rude person! Regards Charlie

They were to be seen all over the country, and they thought nowt of doing Boston-Glasgow market and back in a shift,a bit like Mainland Market Deliveries (OOPS).They did buy out Bow Bells Transport I’m pretty sure,if it wasn’t them it was the Davies Group. And I will find that photo Baxter Boy because this - and I quote - “doddering old pensioner” oh and by the way less of the doddering is one you can rely on because I don’t have a bloody nurse to put me to bed at 2230 hrs and a medic to give me my medication. And Sammie it were only a joke about left hookers in t’IOM,anybody can come,so when are you due ducky?
Dont think they bought out Bow Bells might been some tie up but Bow Bell was the Davis Bros along with Goldsmiths Poulters Larrow English Express
Sempers I think

Dont think Bow Bells ever had any connection toTower Hill, Bow Bells over the years was called Ena Goldsmids and English Express and was run by Frankie Davis one of the Five Davis Bros,Solly ran Charles Poulters, Ubby, Sammy, and Harry ran Davis Bros at Wapping, dont know if Frankie actually Owned Bow Bells or if it was part of the Group. After Davis finished they started up Larrow Transport.
I have an old ash tray with tower hill transport printed on it a pal gave it to me many years ago the good old days of advertising would be against health and safety now to hand out to customers
Thanks for the replies lads .I can remember Bow Bells lorries in Tower Hill depot in Boston but it could have been that they maybe bought some lorries off Bow Bells or something. Many thanks for the pici of Tower Hill lorry from Chris.

windrush:
A couple of pics from Bob Tuck’s excellent book, A Road Transport Heritage Volume 111. I hope that I am ok to post them?
Pete.
I can remember Tarzan being on for Spinks in the 70s, assuming it’s the same bloke. The one I used to know lived in the Heckington area, I wonder if he’s still around.
Another ex Tower Hill driver was Derek Dunmore who finished up as an owner driver working out of Gt.Yarmouth.Top bloke. Regards, Haddy.

Many thanks for the replies everyone it means a lot to me seeing these pics. Sadly Tarzan died a few years ago now. I had many a pint and a chinwag with Tarzan He was a gentle giant who could drink like a fish me included. Do you remember Colin Hall he was on Tower Hill and Spinks he is another one who has passed away. All the good uns have gone.
