Something I only just considered. It looks like you could be prosecuted if youre caught holding the bluetooth while driving.
I thought nothing of it up to now.
Have you thought about this…those of us with in cab cameras have to be careful now

The way things are going in this job mate, you’ll be getting done for picking your nose or scratching your arse, …
But as said in the other thread, (by some with conviction
) ‘‘Cameras are only there to help YOU .and not to catch you out’’
So there you go, just relax,.and if you already have them now, ■■■■ it up, because if you ain’t doing anything wrong, you’ve nothing to worry about.
Apparentlly. ![]()
As for your question, sadly I would go as far as to say …yes. ![]()
The job of a UK trucker…RIP. ![]()
I use Google assistant on my android phone.
Allows me to do a lot of the things my phone is capable of without touching it.
Can answer or make calls.
Send WhatsApp messages or texts.
When i receive a message I can ask it to read it out.
Open apps and start them. I use this a lot with Spotify. It will search for artists or tracks as well within Spotify. If I tell it to play something, it will open spotify by default and find it and play it.
Can tell the assistant to take me to an address or company and it will open Google maps and do a route and off ya go.
It really isn’t necessary to touch ya phone if you have a reasonably modern smart phone. I’ve been using Google assistant for years now, gets better as well. Learns…
Why would you want to hold a Bluetooth thing.
There mostly built into trucks these days.
And it’s fine to touch controls use an inbuilt screen in a car to alter settings tune a radio etc. As it’s part of the veichel.
Yet you can’t touch something sepereate or sat nav or phone
I dont like it in my ear all the time unless Im using it.Also,I have two ,so if one goes flat,I can swap over without interupting the conversation even.I dont have my own truck,so its more work for me to connect it every day and then tell the truck to forget the device at the end of the shift.
Yes,I know the camera is there for me.My manager told me its great how the driver can be exhonerated immediatly ,if there are false allegations about my driving!
Having any electronic device in your hand is a career-changing bad idea; liable to get you CU80 on your licence. We vocational drivers get “the bonus plan” of a fine potentially up to £2,500 and a trip to see your friendly neighbourhood TC for a Driver Conduct Hearing, with a “starting point” of four weeks removal of your HGV entitlements.
Hands-free use of phones etc is far less risky - but not risk free. You can still be done for “driving without due care and attention” especially if they see you’ve been doing it just before having an accident. They can use this one for pretty much any reason they like (see link) but I’m not sure how easy/hard it is for them to prove it.

I believe, or at-least hope, that Splooms comment was intended as sarcasm ![]()

Your connecting to your phone and you don’t like the ear piece in your ear,
I am nearly sure you can get a speaker on its own with bluetooth that will only connect to your phone and you could just leave the speaker on the dash or wherever and I still think if your away from cab the ear piece will pick it up
As I said I think so could be wrong but in this day and age who knows

Pleased to hear it,
… but there are some on here who repeat this sort of stuff they have been told,…and actually believe it. ![]()
