Tossco drivers

I’m a very rare breed of tipper driver who does stick to 40(ish) by setting cruise to 41, then 51 and mways at 53 (can’t do more than 55 so I leave a bit in reserve incase I need it). However, I agree with Bubsy, Tesco drivers who like to make Fordson Majors look fast are a pain in the arse and just give Joe Public more reasons to hate us. If I want to use some time, I’ll stay onsite for a few minutes, book time offsite so timesheet tallies with tracker and do the speed limit on the way home.

Blame the Government for the draconian speed limits not the driver that wants to stay legal by sticking to them, least most shopping trolley drivers stick to the correct limits and not put their foot down when they hit a DC like some zbs :imp:

Im ■■■■■■■■ about them doing 25 not 40, no problem with them doing 40 but 25 takes the pee. Go and work for mcdonalds less hours same money, dont have to bumble along at 25mph all day waiting to die

Haha, use your [zb] eyes next time. Not exactly difficult to spot one of the many speed camera devices, most of them you could spot from space.

Hindsights a wonderful thing oh wise one i bow to your superior knowledge… But you’ll still be sat behind me at 38mph just in case theres one of them sneaky ■■■■■■■ mobile camera vans sitting round the next corner!. It’s become a phobia now :unamused:

20/20 vision and quick reflexes are also a wonderful thing, kept me almost out of trouble for 9 years, didnt realise that they had red light cameras just after i passed my car test. Also why 38? Which will actually be 34 as speedos are usually inaccurate. The limit is 40, also they let you off 40mph + 10% + 3-4mph, so in fact you are doing 14 mph less than the legal limit, ever thought about driving a hearse for a living?
P.s. caught plenty of fish tonight to last me a week, im off to bed

Have you ever thought the driver could be on his/her first time out and that they are not use to driving with that amount of weight, have you thought that unlike yourself they were not born all seeing and all knowing and are building there confidence up. have you though that Tesco trucks may be tracked so an un scheduled stop would be suspicious and could lead to problems for the driver, have you thought that your being a bit of a mug.

speed does not kill you claim, well it does if you cannot handle the speed. Another poster said about progress and that is true but if it was there first time out there is a massive difference between 40mph empty and your instructor next to you and 40 mph loaded and on your own. no matter what just chill and except you have good days and bad days.

Did you ever here the saying “mocking is catching”? I’d keep your eyes open extra wide this week!

as far as I know this is only ACPO guidelines and has no bearing at all on speed cameras (as they are not normally operated by thr police)

If you are all so annoyed by Tesco drivers, why not complain to Tesco’s head office that their drivers are causing a nuisance by making the job longer than it should be, I am sure that the management at Tesco weould be delighted to find a way to reduce their wages bill.
Alternatively, post your compaints again oh here the next time this subject is posted (next week and the week after!)

They allow you to go 10% over to allow for speedo inaccuracies but you don’t get the +3 or 4 mph on top of that.
I also thought that was the case until I ended up with 3 points on my licence for doing 35 in a 30.

There are guidelines for officers to follow with regard to speeding. These state as a general rule 10% + 2mph is the point at which a fixed penalty should normally be issued. However, police officers do have discretion to nick you for speeding under these levels if they feel it is merited. The guidelines are for enforcement officials to use not for drivers to judge how much you can get away with.

If anyone saw the second to last Traffic Cops show on BBC (Tickets, credits & consequences) you would know that this is no longer the case. They now operate on a bonus points scheme where they are no longer allowed to use discretion.

In a crackdown on motorists breaking the Highway Code, the traffic cops in Bedfordshire have brought in a credit scheme where they get ‘points for pulls’. Drivers using mobile phones, not wearing seat belts or having illegal number plates are all on their hit list.

[zb]s, the lot of them.

Depends on your area.

Every force has different maximum set thresholds for static cameras and camera vans

If you got done for 35 your speedo must have been nearly touching 40

So why not either:

Consult your MP with an ambition to address the law by arguing that your way is best.

…or

Embrace the diversity that democratically elected politicians tell us is good for the nation?

They’re realistic alternatives to whingeing & splitting the debate into bitterly entrenched schisms of opposition :unamused:

So a teco driver doing 25 mph and being a pain in the ■■■ ended up being " I do 30 mph , I do 35 mph I do 38 mph , I never speed I blah blah blah Look how professional I,am …

:unamused:

Tesco do this a lot on the 446 and ■■■■ up the A38 at busy periods by doing 40mph on it , and we all know how many car drivers are prepared to let you out on a busy dual…
They are a ■■■■■■■ nuisance , end of story.
They will always get a bip of the horn and a shaking head and hand gesture that says WHY WHY WHY…

Keep up with traffic flow is what it’s called , not hindering it.

All very well until Vosa turn up and a tacho analysis shows 80kmh nowhere near a dual carriageway…

So ?

So ?

So, your licence can be suspended or revoked for what they see as persistent speeding.
As to this…

They will always get a bip of the horn and a shaking head and hand gesture that says WHY WHY WHY…

WHY WHY WHY waste your time, I’m fairly sure that if someone did that to you it would have no effect at all.

Nick

BUSBY06 i see from some of your posts that you travel through mid wales i sometimes do my speed depends on the load that i carry and i dont have a powerfull truck so if you come behind me flash you lights like mad and i will move out of your way so you can finish earlier

what makes me laugh is the ammount of old people that drive too slowly. when im 80 im going to drive flat out as i dont want to waste any of my remaining time in my car.
