Torpoint, plymouth

I’ve got a job in torpoint in the morning what the best way the sat nav says there’s a ferry from plymouth but the paper map doesn’t show any thing, I’ve got to be there for 6 am so anywhere to park nearby would be good also.

There definitely is a ferry from Plymouth to Torpoint, have used it many times.

Although it does not carry anything with more than 2 axles or over 18T.

So it will be the Tamar bridge…which is £11 for artics if i remember rightly?

IIRC that ferry has a weight limit of 16 tons or maybe 18 tons. It might be best to head out on the A38 towards St Austell direction and then left at runabout by shell turn left signed Looe IIRC A382  IIRC then follow that to Torpoint. You can aprk at the cafe just off that roubaout after you’ve turned off left, called Windy Ridge IIRC, also little layby just down there too IIRC :grimacing:

i must add there is usualy a 10 - 15 min wait to get on the ferry. However if your going in the artic it would be best to go across the Tamar Bridge.

Some information on the Tamar Crossings: tamarcrossings.org.uk/index. … leid=36387

Plus the ferry is awkward to get onto. And remember this is the South West dont go down any stupidly tight lanes or you risk being like this poor bloke:

Think you’ll find this is the best way. Just checked on my map and its probably signed the A387 then A374 or other way round (you can’t go wrong) :grimacing: Cafe / restaurant is just before a place called Trerulefoot. You need to go under an arched 15ft bridge, following the A38, just before coming to a roundabout with a shell station just over tot he right, but, you turn left. Cafe just down there on the right (100 yards ?), have parked there with a truck myself, layby on left just down road if you prefer. The from there down to Torpoint. :grimacing:
IIRC there is also a Diner by the shell, short walk from Windy Ridge.

Just to let you know, if you need to fuel up or get anything, do it before you get to plymouth as the shell station
at trerulefoot is closed for a refit.

thanks for all the replies, we only made it to exeter tonite so should be fun in the morning
