Many moons ago I use to work in a bar & one of our regulars was a Londoner, who claimed to have been born within ear shot of West Hams ground & whose family had all been dockers.
He was one of the biggest thieving gits I have ever had the pleasure to known, a truly charming if a little light fingered individual. But he never stole anything, as like his father & grandfather he “shored it”.
