Simplest way would be to ask your Co, or ask to see their social media policy. That way you get it from the horses mouth as opposed to the hundred different variations and opinions you will get here.

I should imagine there would be electrical issues with your equipment, so probably not…

There’ll be no electrical issues.

Most large transport companies, have social media & media policies, so if they can identify you or their truck, they can come down on you like a ton of bricks.

As stated find out your company policy, could be on website or if you were issued with a drivers handbook in the last few years it will be in there, with all the other policies they have.

I have never been in a refinery that allows cameras or suchlike

Not been on a refinery, but theres a drugs company I’ve been to who have a strict no electronics policy (hand onto gatehouse any phones, cameras etc, even dashcams*) as they don’t want people getting an easy idea of how its laid out.

That case it’s to reduce risk of thefts, but refinery would be risk of terrorism I would imagine these days. Ok, you can see a certain amount from Google maps, but not very close details and a mobile dashcam or GoPro can pickout details easier (especially if you’re scouting).

  • Admittedly they cant stop built in ones, but i guess they assume you’re boss isn’t an international terrorist…hopefully.

Outside of refinery, likely just the company policy above. Many will say no because they don’t want to risk bad publicity.

Williams9981, do you know the company policy and/ asked and got a no response, and just looking here for some support.
If you don’t clearly know the answer yet, go and ask. Seems quite simple really.

When we went into Fawley we had to hand everything in, that includes cigar lighter sockets, sat navs, transistor radios, mobile phones, alcohol, basically anything the manufacturer didn’t include as standard.

I hand everything in when I go into the fuel terminals, phone electrics sources of ignition. Even the camera I’ve only had it a few days I was basically gonna do educational videos I see blokes on YouTube doing van/7.5 tonne vlogs and have loads of interest but no ones doing tankers apart from a few yanks.

I might just get a Santa hat and some flight goggles and make sure the company logo isn’t on show anywhere lol.

I would ask but feel slightly embarrassed.

I’d never show where I’ve loaded from or the delivery point.

Trucks don’t load from refineries, they load from terminals.
In this country the gates are unmanned, entry is gained with an electronic tag or card.

I cant imagine there would be that much of an issue, there is even a ‘taxi’ driver who drives around with a go pro in the back of his cab

I go into Fawley regularly and don’t get asked to hand anything in only been asked for lighters

Star down under.:
There’ll be no electrical issues.

We have very strict requirements for wiring and any electrical installations on tankers that carry flammable liquids, so there IS a potential issue with the OP’s proposal.

My advice is that the OP runs the whole idea past his employer first, so that any electrical issues can be resolved and the customers consulted to see whether they object.

:bulb: This would be one very fast way for the OP to lose his job if permissions are not in place for his idea. :open_mouth:

This is one of those situations where the management will almost certainly say NO as a reflex answer. There’s nothing in it for them, so why would they allow it.
