UNBELIEVEABLE

Don’t make the mistake of thinking any drivers opinion was sought for this.

The clue to the award though may be in the title:

Fleet Truck of the year.”

I’ve been driving an Axor high roof this week, and I have to say that it’s not bad as fleet trucks go for a day driver, (Air con would have been nice as I’m a hay fever sufferer.) although I would have thought that as the Renault Premium is supposedly classed as a fleet truck, I would have thought that it would have been in with a shout.

However, at 44t in the wet, when turning it has a tendency to understeer quite badly, and unless you lift off immediately, then you are likely to hit something as you head straight on instead of turning.

Ken.

It was in the voting, along with the Volvo FM and an Iveco Stralis, those listed were just the top 3.

Nothing wrong with my Axor. I love it.

It’s never let me down, has a great engine, great manoeuvrability, great visibility and a nice and high driving position.

I’d love a new '11 plate one and would choose one over any ‘fleet truck’ any day.

i’ve had to drive an axor a couple of times lately and like above i was pleasently suprised by them , the only thing i would complain about is the lack of leg room in the drivers footwell , nowhere to put my clutch leg , but thats probably down to the fact they were designed as left hookers so its probably forgivable … i quite enjoyed driving them too …

I struggle a little in this respect as I’m 6’5". The basic seat is ■■■■ too. Aircon would be nice but that’s just cos my firm are tight!

MAN TGS? Is there not someone here c-kay or similar who had/has one and had endless trouble with it.

DAF? WTF? Why are people so obsessed with these things? I’m at risk of being given one of these overrated, overpriced abortions in the next year or so. I can’t see why companies don’t let the drivers choose their new lorry within a price range/spec, like managers and reps do with company cars. I’d have a Hino :open_mouth:  before choosing a Daf; backbreaking heaps of ■■■■. :imp:

DAF is actually quite a proven 8x4 tipper truck and is second to Scania only in most quarry/muckaway etc fleets in Scotland.

Gaffers motors in my opinion; creaky chassis and poor driving position.
