Top Bunk sleepers?

Top bunk on a 4 series, but bottom for everything else. Head on the passenger side too, just incase someone runs into it

Yup, figured that if the million to one accident happens I’d rather have my head than my feet.

I used to sleep with my head to the offside , until one of our subby’s got hit by another truck whilst parked overnight in a lay-by . Swapped to nearside now :open_mouth:

As for top bunks , I never use them to sleep on apart from a couple of times last year when I was double manning in an FH , PITA to get up and down !!. I’m not the tallest bloke in the world , and it looked a long way to fall too

I often wonder whether fat gits like me are safe up there

It depends for me. Sometimes the top bunks have better comfyness due to the bottom ones have been wellied over time. I used to sleep on the top in the actros mega space just because the bottom one was in 3 parts and needed pulling out.

Also sleeping on the top is a bit warmer if night heater is on !

Always sleep with my head on the side the steering wheels on. Have done this in both left and right hand drive vehicles

The top bunk on the 4 series topline, the one at the front, was great. Plenty of room and you could stick your feet out the sunroof on warm evenings! Everything else it’s only been the bottom bunk.

no one could see you up there :open_mouth: at the front :unamused: especially at RDCs! :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing:

i did have a eurostar, and the top bunk on that was heaven [/quote]
+1 My old eurostar s top bunk was very comfy too

I prefer the top bunk, it is generally darker, quieter and warmer.

But years ago i did have a eurostar, and the top bunk on that was heaven

Same here best cab ever

Has anyone ever fell from the top bunk? Ive never tried th top bunk but took the odd mate along for a run the odd time and they were happy up there.

Always slept passenger side because your head needs to a certain distance from the steering wheel :sunglasses: . That’s what someone told me in an rdc waiting room, and he should know cos he was ex SAS

It is hotter on top. Perfect in very cold climate.

But personally I sleep in the bottom bunk, and always on the passenger side. The passenger seat is easier to fold down. Electric chair on the driver side, so it takes ages to fold it down/forward.

I sleep with my head on the passenger side, and find it really weird to sleep the other way round

Yep, the last night out I had with my dad I was promoted to the top bunk in a R series topline we were parked up in the rugby ground car park outside lin pac in featherstone. Being a big lad the fact the bunk is being held up by seatbelt like hinges it just didn’t feel like it’d hold. Had a very sleepless night that night, but when it was time to get up dad was up before me, as he got out the cab and the lights went out I tried to get out of the bunk…Misplaced my foot and missed the ladder completely and fell and cracked my head on the dashboard  No damage done apart from a bad headache all day  But I for one will not be using the top bunk in any lorry when I’m driving after that :imp:

Cheers

I mix it up in my R series,if im having plenty of time off i set up camp on the bottom and chill watching tv. If i just wana crash and have minimum hours of I’ll sleep on the top. Much wider bed on the bottom. And i always sleep with my head on the passenger side.
Got up at 8 today and im still waiting for a trailer at Killingholme, knew i should of stayed in my pit.

Top bunk in my 4 series Topline, the bottom one is a piece of junk you have to fold down after sliding the seats somewhere up the street first. Never used it once . Bottom bunk in other stuff I’ve driven previously.

Its really awkard getting on the top bunk, nothing much to hold on to and it looks a bloody long way down from up there lol.

When I had a MAN tga, I always slept on the top bunk seemed warmer and quieter up there, you wouldn’t want to fall out though,it was a big drop to the floor.
