OR, possibly, killing yellow hairdresser cars :exclamation: :unamused: :unamused:

On a more serious note - the programme had MRS ROG in tears as it could have been ME and not my car that was killed :exclamation:HERE

just watched it a croation driver no rest for four weeks park up for 45 hours then away you go ,is this a detterant i think not just shows how unfairly treated we as an industry are!!

Absolute Rubbish, :imp:

Might has well have got Alan Partridge to do it in the style of “Crash Bang Wollop what a video”. :imp:

All it served to prove is that our lives as members of the british public are being put at rish every day and that our industry is being poured down the drain with little or no government idea’s or support. :imp: :imp: :imp:

I wish I had a pound for every british driver watching who said " No SH*t Sherlock" when Partridge sorry Wilson spoke the blindingly obvious again and again. :imp: :imp:

Until companies are held responsible under a European database they will continue to get another driver and run the same scams!!! :imp: :imp: :imp: :imp: :imp: :imp: :imp: :imp: :imp: :imp: :imp: :imp: :imp:

And the minister at the end, that dodged the q’s by Quentin, bloody typical government.

And why can’t we levy daily charges on the foreigners? After all,we pay to use roads in Europe, and if we did,the revenue raised, would pay for more traffic enforcement.

Discuss further…

Ken.

Considering Quinten Wilson had never driven a truck before, he should have had BOTH hands on the wheel.

I`d agree there - charge them per kilometre then see how much over their hours they want to go

Hey don’t shoot the messenger.

Wilson did good. There arn’t enough progs on this subject.

We all know questions will be glossed over/ignored because they can’t be
answered truthfully without a job loss.

the government wants it going on for some unknown reason if they did not want it going on they could stop it tomorrow

i missed the programme but the title was a little off putting… what was it killer lorries or something.

i cannot fathom out why oh why they wont introduce a vinginette scheme here.

Oh no Alex.We couldn’t have that could we,as our government say that wouldn’t be fair to our European cousins. After all,we don’t pay to use European roads do we?

And we don’t pay £1200 for a 3x3 combination on our roads,do we? A sort of road toll,if you like, while bloody Johnny foreigner pays sod all,and even snubs buying diesel in our country, which might not be so bad if he did, because at least he would be making a small contibution.

The fact is,this country is up ■■■■ creek, and we allow anyone and everyone access to this country, and all it’s services for free, without any contribution whatsoever.

And I read this week, that we give more to Europe in terms of cash, than most other countries.

It’s about time we looked after our own,and tell Europe to ■■■■ off.

Ken. (One disgruntled BRITISH citizen.)

Quinny, you’ve given me an idea :exclamation:

We get the government to invent a new scheme similar to YTS but aimed at the hoodie brigade. They camp out in the laybys along the main routes from Dover lying in wait for Johnny Foreigner to turn up with his 1000 litre brimmed fuel tanks. While he’s stopped for a break they jump out , drain his tanks (except for 50 litres) and force him to fuel up with enough expensive diesel to do his work in Blighty.

With the diesel that has been syphoned, that gets bunkered and then sold at highly subsidised prices to the UK haulage firms.

Fantastic :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses:

Hang on, a flaw. They don’t stop for breaks

Another flaw in your argument is that all the gypo’s have beat the hoodies to the diesel

Watched the program tonight some very interesting points raised and a bit of an eye opener as to how these eastern european drivers are worked, let’s hope them practises don’t take off over here!!! But one thing shouldn’t the side swipe issue be put across a bit more, i’m not going to pipe on about how many miles i’ve driven or countries visited but it’s becoming an increasing problem with numpty car and van drivers slowing down when catching up slower moving vehicles in the middle lane and sitting along side you on the motorway somtimes in your blind spot, refusing to move over into lane three when you’ve got your indicator on. They’re hard work in a RHD vehicle these LHD trucks have a far greater degree of blind spot. When is it going to become mandatory to have a motorway driving course and test and get some form of appreciation in first before being allowed onto the motorway network?

i was shocked and disgusted with the fact they can stop some bloke that hasn’t had a single day off in 4 months and all he gets is escorted to a safe place to park and he has to park up for 45 hours. what would one of us get if we had even done just two weeks without a weekly rest. taken to court with a massive fine and maybe our licence suspended for a couple of months. where is the justice?

why cant they have road side courts for johnny foreigner? make them leave thier lorry and send the driver back. then get a british company to carry his load at the expense of the foreign haulage firm who have to pay the additional cost. how much would it cost to put a VOSA rep on every ferry coming into britain checking all the tacho’s on the ferry. if you are bent then you dont get out of the port, you get the chance to tip at the port but yet again your company has to use a british firm to finish your job on top of, say a £10,000 fine (put in a fund fr british hauliers) and if you dont pay the fine your lorry isnt released until it is. you have 4 weeks to cough up, if not it is sent to auction and the proceeds put in a fund to help reduce the cost of fuel for british hauliers. how many would try to run bent in this country then?

we are too soft on people that break the law in this country if they are from a dfferent country. what if it was you in germany. would you be told to have rest then be on your way? i dont think so, do you?

it is good to be in a land with free speech and free thinking but why does it have to be free for people that have paid nothing towards it■■? sometimes it makes me want to post my licence back to the DVLA in an envelope with a weeks worth of poop because that is what this country is with regards to foreigners flaunting the law.

Quinny:
And the minister at the end, that dodged the q’s by Quentin, bloody typical government.

Of course they did because they had a minister on “The One Show” half an hour earlier agreeing with an old codger that bus drivers taking tacho breaks was an inconvenience and should be ended and that they were looking at ways to do this.

:open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

It has taken far too long for some of the problems the foreign trucks cause to be shown on evening television. But at long last some have been reported. I wonder how much longer it will take for our government to do anything about these problems?

The foreign trucks should be paying to use our roads, and there is a simple way of enforcing this. Each driver that ships into our docks is issued with an exit ticket which shows the date and time, and the recorded mileage at dock exit. When he ships back out he has to hand in the ticket, has his mileage recorded again, and is then charged for mileage done in this country. At the same time his driving hours in this country can be checked, along with hours driven outside this country. Basically similar to a parking ticket. It would bring in far more money than it would take to enforce.

Also with reference to the blind spot when overtaking with a left ■■■■■■, my hubby came up with a partial solution years ago but the truck manufacturers didn’t take any notice. Put an extra window in lower down on the passenger side, similar to the old ford cargo doors.

What are the RHA and the FTA doing about these problems? We’ve been out of haulage now for over 3 years and it doesn’t appear that things are getting any better. If anything they are getting worse!
