TomTom has died, need a new one

My TomTom died today (it wont switch on, the power is there, and the light comes on when its stuck in the ■■■ lighter, but it wont do anything) so im prob going to buy a new one (my broke one is a GO 910 which i bought in 2007). i dont do European at the min, but never say never, i will want one with Europe on, so whats the best one to go for, my 910m was good, got me to a gig in Istanbul a yr or 2 ago and a lot of other countries. I bought the 910 at the time cos it was the top of the range, im thinking maybe to do the same again, just get the top one they do, then all bases are covered. Any thoughts/reccomendations?
I will stick with TomTom whatever i buy, as i am familiar with how they work etc, and find them very easy to use, so wont be looking at Garmins etc.

buy a tomtom 540 and download the truckmaps from the interweb for free then you’ll have top of the range for under 200 or you could just buy loads of map books

Have you tried resetting it, some where there’s a little hole to push a pin in with RESET printed by it, mines on the base around the docking latch.

Hi Kindle530, sounds to me like your TomTom just needs re-setting, if you’ve still got the original instructions it tells you how to do it, or you can get help on their web site.
I’ve had same problems with my 710, and all you have to do is get a thin piece of wire or a staple, and push it into a tiny little hole in the back of the device close to where the electrical terminals are(obviously with the unit off its mount, before someone comes on and accuses me of trying to electricute you). hope this makes sense.

What a plum! thanks for the picture showing where the reset button is…i was told it was somewhere else so was pressing the wrong bit, sorted now, thanks for the replies, so no new shiney slim widescreen tomtom for me, ive just got to try to get the casing back on properly on the 910 as i thought it was knackered and was a bit gung-ho getting it off to have a look inside, as i originally thought the problem was the on/off button on the top.
The money ive saved will go on a few bevvy’s for me and the missus when we go on holiday in the morning.
Cheers again for the help lads!!
