Tomtom 3rd party software

yesterday at the london motorshow i was talking to a guy from tomtom and he said there is no plans to make a truck version of tomtom due to the risk of being sued in the event of bridge strikes while using satnav.
He did say however there’s a 3rd party programe that when you input your vehicle stats will route around low bridges etc but didn’t know its name.
anyone else heard of it?

 I have heard of one called Tyre which you are supposed to be able to pre plan routes involving POI’s.Don’t think it can be used away from the PC though. I have downloaded it but not got to grips with it yet.
Apart form that, I have not heard of any other, so far.

■■? On the Tom Tom web site there is quite a bit of truck related stuff… including bridge height P.O.I.s

as far as im aware the only thing you can do for tomtom is add pois and be warned of them. the answer you got was a standard reply the guys you speek to at shows will not know anything about up comeing products,

the map data for teleatlas is available as directions uk have released it ina truck version of pocket navigator this is available for both pc and pocketpc.

alk have said that a truk version is coming but will not be drawn on a release date.

and then theres the pna market. with snooper being the most popular buy the looks of it

i dont understand why the pronav is rated so badly as it uses the same data as the snooper. ill have to wait until my reveiw model comes through to i suppose

Apparently UK (company) “Maplin”
have either the funds to cover any possible litigation
Or fools in there advertising department
