Tomtom 3 problems (tomtom wont go!)

Having decided that a laptop is unnecessarily large for a GPS system I took the plunge and bought an HP2210 PDA with bluetooth, bluetooth GPS and tomtom3 software.

After 3 days I’m thoroughly p*****d of with the(zb) thing!

The setup instructions were next to useless - bluetooth gps, nil instructions - HP2210 pda, too technical - tomtom 3, ok once set up.

Finally set it all up and used it today, fine for the first few minutes - then locked up. Turned it all of, rebooted, fine for 3 miles - then locked up. Tried it a few more times but same old problem.

Is this a common problem with PDA’s? for a tad over £400 I would expect better.

Anyone had similar problems?

take a look here it may help with your question

pocketgpsworld.com/modules.p … c&start=45

to be honest i get asked this question a lot first thing to do is go in to connections select IR beam and un tick receave all incoming beams the next thing to do is go to the website shaun has suggested and down load version 2.07 of the gps driver then unpair the blue tooth gps soft reset then repair the gps with the 2210 the next thing to do is go i to the properties of tt3 and go to the poi tab right at the top there is a check tab that says show poi uncheck this

if you still haveing problems then it could be the storage card scandisk is well known causeing problems with all pocket pcs inparticular the 2210 so you may be bettter going for a cf card instead of an sd card hope you can understand these ramblings an problem give me a shout either via email, msn or other site

and yes its common problem with 2210s and all pocket pc you first get one but it soon all clicks in to place just remember ITS POWERED BY WINDOWS

thanks alix, I’ll give it a try over the weekend.

I don’t understand what ‘Tom Tom’ is. Can someone give a sort of thick user description please? (Cough… that is description of ‘Tom Tom’ and not a description of a thick user  )

Tom Tom market a rangeof GPS (Global Positioning System) navigation systems, both hardware and software. All you could ever need to know is here

Must admit that I bought a Dell Axim X5 PDA off Ebay and a seperate Compact Flash GPS card, loaded TT2 onto the PDA and Hey Presto it all set up and was working within 10 minutes of loading the maps onto a 256mb Card.

I’m not the brightest bulb in the room when it comes to Computers and Software, but I found it very very easy, I’ve even built another 2 over the past 10 months for people but the only time there’s been a problem is when the internal battery ran flat and the PDA lost it’s Tom Tom program and I had to reload it after replacing the Lithium battery.

My opinion is simply, if you want a simple to set up piece of equipment then buy the Dell Axim X5 you can pick them up on ebay for around £140 and a further £50 or so for the compact flash card. There is even the possibility of picking a full Axim setup for the sake of £250

ollie as a side thought coppilot 5 seams to run well on the 2210 but ive heard theres still problems with the sd cards i was talking to someone on the phone the other day and we came the conclusion that the is the 2210 full stop i personally think its the way the 2210 reads the infomation off the sd card but i could be wrong on that that just my personal veiw
